Re: Refrigerator condenser theory...
How about a worktop FREEZER only 600mm square with fast freeze function built in ? if your on a water meter it can get pricey same ideas as with the refigerator. It chills too slowly. The cooling speed is not higher for a freezer, only the temperature changes. And will the electricity cost be lower...

is there a site about it?
you can't add negative particles without adding positive particles, those two together are a salt.
and yes, adding a salt can make parts (anions and cations combined ~ salt ) sink.

Re: need an upgrade in my condenser
my libieg gives me warm distillate too, but it's not a problem for me. just to be sure, you're running your condenser counterflow, right? a liebig condenser is one of the least effective condensers, with the same water flow (or even with less) and an other condenser, you could make your spirit much ...

It's Chopin Wodka, a Polish vodka, named after one of the most famous Polish men, Frédéric Chopin. It's assumed to be one of the best vodkas in the world, even being a patato vodka. It's not cheap, but not expensive being a first class beverage. if you look for it, you should find it not too far awa...

I'll soon try it too, to make a nice lid for this little boiler.
pintoshine has shown a new side of distilling to a lot of us. I'm very thankfull for all the good information he has given here.

that was probably most ethyl acetate, with a solvent smell.Tideliner wrote:At first, the alcohol coming out smelled just like the chemicals I was using at work today to stain & varnish stair nosings. I assume that was methanol. I tossed that, plus a bit more just to be safe.
methanol hardly has a smell.

Amidst an unspoiled sugarcane plantation in Jamaica, the Appleton Estate has been producing some of the world’s finest rums since 1749. Synonymous with Jamaica, the Appleton Estate is resplendent with tradition, history and craftsmanship, and has perfected the process of rum making to an art. Disti...

the external coil is added before I had the libieg. now I don't use it anymore. the reflux condenser just has to condense the vapor, not cool it. the hotter the better for the equilibrium. the cooling of the liquid itself is only necessary for the % you take off and dont send back in your column. an...

I've made beer. prepared a whiskey style mash. half mashed, half sugar an...

gas burner
I have an old rusty burner. It used to give a strong blue flame, but recently it's an ugly yellow flame with lots of soot, I get a layer carbon on my pot. Can that be due to difference between propane and butane? (I don't know what I used before and should check what I use now) Other possibilities w...

It's not america here (though the US has some bad influence on our freedom too) and for most of the nitrations, it's a 99% concentration that is wanted, and that is VERY hard to find. I've heard of people on th...
