Re: Heading to Yellowstone/Montana/Wyoming

Of course the bitch is we want to go from Paradise Valley to Ennis and Big Sky; all 3 are in a straight line with each other. Except for those pesky mountains in the way. So it looks like we have to go up to Livingston over to Gallatin and back down. Never thought this old dude from Alabama would k...

Re: Heading to Yellowstone/Montana/Wyoming

The Paradise Valley is a beautiful place. If you haven't done so yet check out Chico Hot Springs while your there. Good luck trying to find anything affordable to buy as our housing market has gotten very inflated the last few years, especially in western Montana.

Re: Yeast Starter/Yeast bomb: What's your recipe?

I use a similar method. Not sure how scientific it is but it hasn't let me down yet. 1 cup DME Top up to 1000mL in my flask Bring to boil, mixing the entire time. Boil 10-15min then remove from heat and cap with tin foil. When cooled to pitching temp add the following 1 tbsp dry distillers yeast (I ...

Re: Parrot - dump at heart collection?

I guess I'm weird as I do use a parrot to keep track of abv during a run. More so because I enjoy always knowing how it's running. I have a small needle valve before the actual parrot where I collect the fores. After that everything runs through it until the end.

Just finishing up a 60% fresh sweet corn 25% Rye, 15% Barley run. Hearts are pretty tasty (heavy corn/spicy finish). Overall i'm satisfied with the immature product but didn't see a difference to using regular cracked corn except sweet corn is more work. Got another sweet corn batch just about ready...

if you have sufficient head room I'd leave em. If your worried maybe put them in the mechanical or laundry room so they are near a floor drain in case the worst happens.

Re: what to do with 40 cans of pbr

You don't want to run beer with hopps in it because it will leave an oily film in your still and is hard to clean it out. I've heard this too, but a micro-distillery down the road from me just ran a batch of beer from Big Sky Brewing (much more hoppy than pbr)...Im going to drive over today any way...
