I really like the Boka style myself even if you want a pot still just remove the packing. But I think the mash is the most important part a high% ABV here will determine what the final product will be, pot or reflux. If you can't sweat copper maybe you have a friend or a plummer friend. read read re...

Yes to what everybody else said .....but is there a union in your colum and at the top is that cap sweated.......well if only the union was sweated at the bottom you could add another piece like you have from the cap down and have a coil in that to make it into a reflux. I think you have a good design started....I would go with 2" and at the top put a union so down the road you can add or do a modify for a reflux....I love people that build their own...remember add a place for your thermo. Good Luck and put up pics when done.

I think I know what your talking about its a part used sometimes with hot water heaters I found mine at Lowes plumbing and sweated to 3/8 tubing works better than a reducer because of the flare on the top....

my two cents worth simple long test thick salted water to dry in sun and the quick test heat up part apply new water based type flux and check next day copper=green steel=off color redish

Sorry this pic was taken before the overflow was installed I also have one in my 2" seems to work fine, the fitting of a new coupler to pipe is very snug no need of paste....Bokakob 1st drawing specs states not to sweat area bottom or top

I made a 2" and now the new 3" is up. I made mine both of them with the slant plates or the lower in the coupler and just under the plate put the thrmo tube, this is the heart of it and could be changed to a pot still by taking out the coupler. the Coil is a full 20' and 13" long coil...

The condenser 8" long is in the top section, as for plates I just use copper scrubs spaced apart about 3" each apart and there is a SS valve on the take off which finishs on an air coil.....finish temps around 75 degrees very easy to run.I will post my 3" column soon 4 foot 6" an...

Thanks, that pretty much explains what is going on, like when I had the bottom of my tower silver brazed for the keg addapter. I'm not too proud to let someone else help with the right equipment also.

Hi ok I know how to sweat pipe but I had this bright idea to install siteglass's in my 2" copper tower.....just two made of brass with lens O rings and such but they are leaking at the base....looking toward the boiler I have resoldered over and over with bad results each time Stop..... anybody...
