The horrid smell of shelf likkers

Before tasting a properly home distilled product i never noticed the horrid smells that shelf likkers have, going to the bar is completely different now, all of the likkers i taste all i can smell is acetone.... the worst is the higher proof snapps like goldschlager and rumple mintz, they must make ...

Re: Help on design boka with shotgun

i dont think the shotgun will work worth a shit, the vapor will have a hard time rising into a small tube capped at the top, with a coil it can easily go around the coil, a shotgun needs to have a flow through it i would think

4 liters per hour on a 2"? how are you coming up with that figure? The vapor speed is going to be the speed of light to achieve that. Im not saying it cant be done im just wondering if you have actually achieved this or?

I would take a bunch if that pipe down to the scrap yard and either cash it in and buy the right size stainlezs or copper tube or trade it on the spot for some tube if they have it

You know i thi k your build has opened a few doors, by using the 8" ball its like having an entire 8" column, even after the ball if its 1" the still will act like an 8"column, i bet you are going to get some tremendous output speeds once you get the correct amount of heat to it,...

I wish I could have bought some of it but at $600 per 6' piece it was way out of my price range and I probably would never use it for anything, its too big for a hobby column and too small for a boiler, maybe somebody going legal and doing some artisan distilling could have used it but I don't know ...

Re: Finally Commited

That old keg wouldn't be bad but you would have to buy a tri clamp ferrule and have it welded to the keg, probably another $30 in added cost, that keg is worth the $35, with 304 stainless going for $1.01 per pound , you could buy it and if you decide not to use it you can scrap it for the same money...

Only way your going to make any considerable gains in output is increasing the diameter of your column, trying to make your column taller isn't going to make your output any faster, it will still have the same vapor speed, increasing the vapor speed isn't really an option unless you want crappy spir...
