im off to a feed store to see what they have in the way of grains im hoping they have barley and i know they have maize so will will have to wait and see
also see if they have any mollasses

I have just read that in some other countries Maize is refered to as corn which it technically is so im now knowing when some of you guys talk about corn it can also be maize

i am unsure yhe reason i ask is it is hard for me to find grain and corn where i am and the only corn substance i have found was feed maize and kibbled feed maize so i was looking at the containers of beer brewing mixes at the supermarket and wondered if they would be able to be put into a wash for ...

Beer malts and barley?
Can i use beer brewing ingrediants to make a spirit wash ie Bavarian Wheat $21.10 - Made from a careful balance of wheat and barley malt, this is a crisp, refreshing, distictive beer.
Its probly a silly question but hey i dont know the answer that is why i asked

i dont know if any one has made a calculator for flavour measurements but i have so if any one is interested follow the link this is for store bought flavours if you need to divide them up amongst different amounts of spirit just enter the ml on the bottle, and how much ml of spirit it flavours, and...

well have now put just under 5ltr into bottles and will wait to see how it goes after a bit of ageing
before i bottled i ran it through some filter paper.

ok the bubbling has stopped and the wash liquid has a SG of .998, i have separated the pulp from the liquid getting 6 litres of wash. i dont drink wine so i got a freind to taste it and he said it definately has a winey taste. i took a reading on my Alcometer and was showing a reading of 9% now i am...

i knew that when the wash was at below .980 it was ready to dist i have never tested when the SG was above that. i was always on the understanding that you tested after the wash stopped bubbling. i was taught by a person who "knew it all" apparantly, so i am sorry for my ignorance in some ...

ok i have watched the wash for 5 days now and have noticed that the grapes and pulp have separated from the liquid underneath and is sitting on the top i opened the barrel and mixed the wash again. i took a sample of the wash liquid and it was sg of 20 if that sounds correct the wash was quite sweet...

cheers guys it was about 6ltr of just grapes crushed up the about a cup of hot water to dissolve the sugar then added that then topped up barrel to about 10ltr with water. looking at the brew it has about 3-4 inches of floating grapes and pulp then under that looks relatively clear like a wash that ...
