Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash
My wash is finally ready to run and I'll be doing that during the ball games tomorow. I,ve got three six gallon batches that finished out at 11%. I'll post my single run reflux yields when I get done.

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash
Just something that I forgot to add. My buckets are air Locked and every time I've taken gravity readings I give a gentle stir.

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash
Ok, Lampshade or any on else that can give me some input. I made three batches of Wino's recipe but had to split them into four ferment buckets for fear of blow overs. So, I have 18 gal of wash separated into four @ 4.5 gal. each then pitched approx. 52 grams of bakers yeast (Red Star) into each.On ...

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash
I've had this wash going now for about two weeks @ 78degrees F. Still around 1.04 - 1.05 my PH was low when I started. Is it possible to bring the PH up during your fermentation process? I will be using baking soda if this can be done.

Re: Weight and Volume Grains
Prariepiss, Oh ya, have done AGs before but always on the grain. Had a neighbor come over (brewmaster) with his equiptment and teach me the fly sparging tech. I just thought that he might have been using more grain than what was needed. So I came tyo you guys for more info. In my case, Sparging is a...

Re: Weight and Volume Grains
Hey PrairePiss,
Thanks for the info, guess I'm overshooting a feisable target. Not trying to be greedy just trying to be on the mark the first time. The parent site said that using bakers yeast the max ABV could be as high as 14%. Guess I'm not in the know enough, lot of learnig yet to get.

Re: Weight and Volume Grains
Dunderhead, Great site, played with it but can't find the results that I'm looking for. Guess I've got some type of study overload going on. I'll try a 30lb. total @ 24lbs. cracked corn, 3lb 10oz. barley, and 2lb. 7oz. rye. Using a dry activated bakers yeast how much yeast should I use and will I ha...

Re: Weight and Volume Grains
Hey Dunderhead, Thanks for the link, have read this section over and over, and still can't figure out the calculation. Don't seem to be retaining what I'm reading I guess. If you or someone could tell me the total pounds needed for all three grains combined, I'm sure that I could go in reverse to fi...

Weight and Volume Grains
Hello to All, I'll try my best to compact this question as much as possible. I've switched to all grain mashes/washes using fly sparging to rinse the grains. I'm having a real tough time finding the calcs that I need ( on the parent site ) to make my original grain bill. Here goes, I''m making a 10 ...

Re: sweetfeed whisky
I'm new to these forums, and have question. Has anyone used any of the turbo yeasts with this sweetfeed recipe? I have four bags of the 48 hour turbo and am hesitant to go ahead and use. If anyone could give me some follow up on this I sure would appreiate. Thanks.
