Yep, just let it be. Warmer temps will help but if you dont have that option, just be patient. It will do its thing and you will thank yourself later.bellybuster wrote:as a great song writer once said "Let it Be"

Re: Stumped on Hook Rum fermentation
It may take a while. 1118 is a slow ferment yeast from my experience. My ferments for hook have taken up to a month and it is way worth it. For a 8 gallon run I use, 10 pounds of sugar, 1/2 gallon fancy molasis 4 vit c pills 4 tsp yeast neutrients 4 tbs bakers yeast. even at 72-75 it takes a while. ...

I mounted my drain on the side as far down as possible. Teflon gaskets are used. I just welded on a 2 inch ferull and added a reducer to 3/4 to the ball valve. Ill be changing it to a butterfly valve as soon as the parts get here.

Here is my Mod for the top of my tower. It is a half ball that screws in from the sides into the tower. OK, On topic. The other day I was running a 5th gen UJSMM and wanted to declorinate the new water to go into the fermenter. I accidentally put in Citric acid instead of vit C. After I added my backset laced with sugar is when I noticed the bottle that I used. 24 Hours later still no bubbling. Maybe ...

Re: If I wanted to add a bubbler to my 2" pot still
I am running bubbles on a 2 inch pipe dephlag. it is only 4 inches long and does the job nicely. I use it when running 3 plates or when running 2 plates with a packed column on top of that. Running with the bubbler and a packed column will increase your take off speed and percentage. At least in my ...

For me Duracell is on the right track. I usually take most of a quart off of 6 gallon boiler charge and pitch it. I don't reflux, just pot still... so why just keep processing the same distasteful alcohol over and over. It seems to me to be smarter to make cuts early in the process and strive for a...

I think what he is asking is: When making a spirit run with several runs of low wine, the effect of diluting the low wine with the back-set (not fresh wash) from the last stripping run. Would it add more favor, as opposed to diluting with water. Good question; I'm also looking forward to feed back ...

Interesting thought
Ok. After doing say 3 different generational stripping runs you proceed with a spirit run. Assuming that cuts where made for heads and tails could you do the spirit run with the last set of backset for the dilution fluid? This way you wouldn't loose flavor from the run I'm thinking. Thoughts?
