Re: Wet Cardboard and me

I went so far as to collect everything into 100ml batches. tasted them all then only used the bits that didnt taste too bad. Saving the rest to store for throwing in at a later date.

Re: Wet Cardboard and me

T4 For washing I've been letting the still head sit in a cleaning solution then it gets a very good rinse out. Dunder I'll try the fermentation off the grain next. But I got the same smells doing a rye grain wash to the UJ simple mash recipee. hhmm? I strongly think that I have not aired the product...

Wet Cardboard and me

Hi there guys. After much reading I've not been able to find a solution and think I may be just being too picky. I've got a bit of a problem with my final product. I seem to only be able to small and taste the wet cardboard of collecting too much through all of my runs. I've tried Rye, Corn and Barl...

Am I running things right here? I have done my second batch of this now and I would just like to make some notes for you guys to read and see if I'm on the right track please. I have created my pot still using a 70l stainless pot. The column is 260cm (2ft) high and 54mm (2inch) in diameter. I have r...

Re: Joining the condensor to the column

That looks excellent.

I did think of a similar thing using a straight connector but this being my first build I think I'm going for bomb proof in my construction, hence the extra price paid for the threaded coupling.

Re: Hello from the northeast

Am I right in thinking rad14701 is talking about the flow and return pipes for cooling that pass through the column. Should they not be run there at all then? You see so many designes like that. Or am I cunfused?

Re: Joining the condensor to the column

My thoughts being that it will be easier to clean out.

Threaded joints being more secure.

I liked the look of em :D

Re: Joining the condensor to the column

That bit is still a TBA thing.

I'm going to have a look down to the local hardware store / cash and carry for what cooking pots that have available in stainless.

Re: Joining the condensor to the column

I've found a site that has those fittings at £25 each YAY, ordered and they will be here in a few days.

Those flanges look very good though. I'm sure you can get a similar setup for car exhaust fittings.

Joining the condensor to the column

I've ordered my pipe work. I had the choice of 42mm or 54mm, so I've gone for the 54mm for my Bokakob. The pipe work and valve has come to a grand total of £110 which I thought was not too bad. Had to buy the 54mm pipe in 3m lengths so I'll be making a pot still with the extra left over. This is whe...
