Plastic Contamination
I've been distilling for a quite a few years with copper and stainless steel units and have read quite number of papers on the subject of "plastics" in the vapour path. I have read quite a number of press articles about deaths from contaminated "home brew spirits" but in all my y...

Re: Chimay ale
I first came across this beer in Amsterdam a few years ago. We tried several (read lots) of the "single", "double' and "triple'. Enjoyed all of them in one of the"brown bars" with a Pom that we happened to meet. Then we went on one of the funniest canal tours that you c...

My prayers are with you folk. I've had some experience from where you are sitting Husker. A couple of years ago surgeon drew a 9 inch circle over my wifes stomach and everything within that circle was removed. Mate, if I can offer any advice it is to keep the faith, be positive for Barb, not always ...

Re: How long should I age for?
The only thing I would suggest is that for any bottle of "Whatever" you are about to deliberately lose for a couple of years is that you use less oak than you would normally use on something you would be drinking in a coupe of months. Leave it long enough with too much oak and the tannins ...

I've done something like 30 distillations of grain brews without any hint of scorching. I haven't done any distillations on the grain though. I always sparge the grains and then decant the fermented brew into my boiler leaving any solids behind. No problems with scorching.

If you put enough "redders" (tomato sauce/ketchup) on, it will disguise anything.
