Re: Shady's Sugar Shine

1.064 to 0.990 FG in 2-1/2 days is pretty good. On a side note, Watch closely for the tails cut. Sugar washes are noted for crappy tails. Thanks for the heads up. Stripping tomorrow. Ill do the spirit run on a 4 plate bubble cap column. I'll post an update when its done. Great recipe BTW and apprec...

For sure will hang on to it. I'll still use it for SG and I do a lot of brandies so I use it to check the brix of fruit. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Shady's Sugar Shine

Yes, I used a digital refractometer and zeroed it before I started. There's the problem. A refractometer lies after fermentation starts and alcohol is present. Thanks. This is what I was looking for. I had no idea this was the case. Appreciate the info. There are numerous calculators to correct a r...

Re: Shady's Sugar Shine

I can't figure out why people have problems whit this recipe. It's soooo easy. Never had a problem with one. But I follow it to a T. And keep a heat pad under set on 85f. Maybe I've just been lucky... Makes so clean a drop. Absolutely love this recipe. And that fact that it's scaled to a 20 gal fer...

Re: Shady's Sugar Shine

Hello. I did 2 fermenters of this recipe and except adding the vitamins followed the recipe to a T. Both fermenters had the same amount of water and sugar. Fermenter 1 I used Domino pure can sugar and barrel 2 I used Walmart Pure Sugar, which I assume is beet sugar. Barrel 1 starting brix was 15.6 (...

ML should be Ml

But I am a fusspot. It's a nice label.

Fusspot?

Ml = Megalitre = 100000 litres
ml / mL = millilitre

Unless his bottle is alarmingly large it should read ml or mL.
Actually it should read 25.4 ounces, but what are you going to do.

The label is so obviously a spoof its hard to imagine it would be taken seriously. "Liquid courage", " 2 fights in every jug", "Farm store animal feed" in a secret location. I have a feeling you're having fun with me. Oh no :esurprised: , I just seen a typo in your lab...

I've got 5 gallons of AG oat whiskey in the barrel and thought it deserved a nice bottle and label. My other hobby is woodworking and takes up the majority of my shop. I'm going to bottle in the 750ml moonshine jugs. image.png Here is a pic of the jug filled and one for scale. jug.jpg jug size.jpg

It’s a sweet label. I’ve kicked this idea down the road for a while. I got some pretty slick ideas and mock up’s for what I would name my “distillery”. I definitely see Yummyrum’s side on this one. Any kind of product label certainly wouldn’t help my attorney in the event that terrible shit went do...

Hello Rubberduck71. The yeast was fine and the final product was as good as it could be considering the equipment I had at the time. This was the only time I used that yeast as I was living in Brazil and at the time I could only buy bakers yeast locally. The one thing that sticks out to ne about the...

Re: Booners all casual Uncle Remus rice Vodka

I'm a convert. $29 for rice, some enzymes and yeast. IMHO it racks easier than corn and I got a better conversion vs corn and I love the taste. After fermentation the only thing left were the hulls which spun almost completely dry in my spin dryer. Definitely my new favorite. I'm with ya on the rice...

Ran 45 gallons of wash today. Used 3 six inch bubble cap plates. Ended up with 4 gallons of 90 % before cuts. Going to let it air overnight and make the cuts and dilute with spring water tomorrow.

Re: Booners all casual Uncle Remus rice Vodka

Finished yesterday at .995. Wow this stuff tastes great. I'm going to keep a gallon and pasteurize it. I guess it'll be called wine. Not sure. It's a little under 9% but tastes great. "Squeezed" it with my Panda spin dryer nothing left but the hulls. I got 51 gallons racked in my 60 gallon...

Re: Booners all casual Uncle Remus rice Vodka

Squeezing is the easy part if you have the right tools. I use a spin dryer for a centrifuge. Should work the same for rice as it does corn. $170 on Amazon. This isn't my video but mine works the same. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq3yS-3qa90" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false...

Booners all casual Uncle Remus rice Vodka

I took the best of 2 of my favorite T&T recipes and combined them. Crushed 100 lbs of rice with my Barley Mill set at .020 brought 50 gallons of water to a boil and added to rice then followed the directions for Booners. Ended up with a 58 gallon drum of 1.062 all rice no sugar mash. I've done t...
