Best Grade of Wire for SPP?

Has anyone tried making SPP with different hardness wires? I've done experiments with hard (spring steel) wire & with soft wire. The spring steel sprung back out too far & the soft didn't open out as much as I'd like. What have others had success with? 1/4 hard? 1/2 hard? Mig wire? Any guida...

Hi I've done a bit of this & have tried most options. IMO soft solder is hands down the way to go. You must use plenty of acid flux ( e.g. EZIWELD 801 fluid ) to etch the SS or you won't get a strong joint. Ordinary flux is hopeless. The best solder I've tried is Consolidated Alloys high silver ...
