while getting things set up for my first all grain attempt my nephew stopped by with some apples. so of course I start doing the math in my head for a calvados. then I got thinking. why not add some peeled and cored apples to the bourbon mash? Yes I use mesh on my spirit run. I am not sure how effective it is, but I still use it. My normal procedure is to make 10 gallons of mash. Make 2 strip runs and throw out the first 5-6 ounces in each run. I collect in 1 gallon wine bottles, then cut those to 30% and make a spirit run. For the spirit...

I also have the clawhammer 5 gallon. After 5-6 more runs you will see those thermometers are just something to look at. How big was the grin on your face when that first drip came out? :ebiggrin:

I bought their 5 gallon kit a little over a year ago. The pieces fell together , everything fit perfectly. I would buy from them again if i had it to do over. Great way to get started.
