Re: Question about wire for mk5500

This wire is industrial quality and good for 600 volts, 30 amps. Typically it would be installed in ridgid conduit or flexible conduit. As stated by Cardinalbags be sure to make properly protected splices/connections and be careful of stress at those connections. Also don't forget the ground/earth c...

I want to set up my new rig with big boy pumps for cooling circulation. Aquarium pumps are too little, What type of pump do I need to be researching? I want more gpm, more head, etc. Also, what should I look for as a mash pump, like if I want something that will pump oatmeal? Pond pump would be goo...

Nice job. That looks like a heavy duty flowswitch and using a contactor to remove the power independent of the SSR is the way to go.

Re: Need some help plz

You need to look at the concentration of the muratic acid you buy to determine how much dilution water is added. I did a spot check on the Lowe's website and they have it at ~15% and ~31%. I would not go above a 10% solution and you might want to start weaker than that. REMEMBER SAFETY 1) GOGGLES, 2...

Nice looking controller. Does the one pot controll all of the elements such that each one is outputting the same amount of power?

Re: Poor Man's Flow Switch

Hi heartcut, The schematic is intended to show the path under no-fault conditions. True, Ry1 would be energized under no-fault conditions and the contact would be NO. I debated whether to show the contacts NO, but then the current path would not be obvious to someone without your understanding. M W...

Re: Poor Man's Flow Switch

I see nothing wrong with the circuit. I would ensure that the 6 contacts shown as NC fail in the open position. For example in the case of the flow switch when there is no water flowing the contact should be open (NO) once the minimum flow of water has been established this open contact will close a...

Re: Poor Man's Flow Switch

I am thinking of a totally separate safety circuit independent of the SSR (SSR controls power to boiler) that would be controlled by the flow switch and/or other safety devices. I would use a contractor/relay controlled by the safety devices to remove the power source. I would have a manual emergenc...

Re: Poor Man's Flow Switch

Anyone using this type of circuit to shutdown their still should disconnect it from its source of power ie gas or electrical. If you use propane or natural gas then there should be an appropirately sized solenoid that would be energized (normally closed valve held open) to allow gas flow to the burn...

Checkout the Tried and True section there are Rum recipes there that should give you information to determine the ratio or just use one of those recipes since it has been proven to work.

Hey Expatlad. I was looking the first time on my phone and didn't see the 15A at the bottom. A load of 87% would probably work OK as long as this is the only thing on the circuit. One of the major problems is that for continuious use the breaker will begin to heat up and at some point may trip even ...
