Thanks guys....made another run at it with another 15 gallons of mash and came up with just shy of 3 gallons!The temperature variant was the key.....the sweet spot for that specific mash was 187°… she cooked off like a champ!

I have a valved reflux still.....a 16 gal keg. Should I put the thermocouple in the keg or at the top of the column??

It sounds silly , but I'm still a rookie, I had a really good mash proof out about 18%. When the still hit operating Temp it started foaming really badly until the head reached 174°… after that my temp kept on shooting up really Really high(180°) .....after about 6 hrs and minimal collection of dist...

MegaJohn I too started out with 110v trying to heat my boiler.....believe it or not if you switch to 220v your boiler will hit operating temp at the top of your column within an hour!!!...no bs!!...i was very surprised it cut the warm up time that much.....aand its cheaper to run it off of the 220.....

Im using a basic sugar wash with alcotec 24......thats why Im puzzled as to where I goofed!!....That stuff smells like skunked beer....im gonna run it anyways and see what happens.....but thanks for the grain tips, thatll be my next endeavor........wish i could find someone else using an electric he...

Using food grade 5 gal buckets, sanitized with hot water and light bleach.....the first wash i just left the lids over the buckets with a towel over top in my kitchen.....they did very well i got 17%abv after 5 days. So thinking, my first mistake, that it would be a good idea to put 3/8" male h...

Put on a couple 5 gal buckets of Alcotec 24 turbo wash....2lbs sugar per gal....1 pk turbo...now 5 days later
