Vodka Questions
Greetings everyone. I am an experienced all grain beer brewer with a 30 gal setup, multiple cooled/heated conicals etc that made the plunge into distillation a few years ago and am very happy with my UJSSM, then rum, then variations of bourbon all grain recipes. I have a few pot stills and a hillbil...

Re: just wanted to share latest experiment and i love it
I use all flaked corn in my big brew rig and love the results. Costs more, saves a lot of time for me, which I am fortunate to have more money than time. However, no measure of money will buy the quality beverage produced by our hobby.

Re: Hook Rum
I just started this wash yesterday and it smells amazing. I was shocked when the ferment took off in under a hour! I have a CM still and have gotten pretty good at pulling off UJSSM in the mid 70s % single runs. Any reason not to do single runs with this? It has turned out great for UJSSM and NCHooc...

Re: NChooch's Carolina Bourbon
Do you have to cook the flaked or just mash at normal mashing temps?

Re: NChooch's Carolina Bourbon
NC, I've read the first 20 or so pages. I'm an experienced AG brewer and am curious if using the flaked corn would be just as tasty and skip the step of cooking the corn? I want to take. 10g to the boiler and have 30g AG equipment so volume isn't a problem. Would you recommend that or just sticking ...

Good Mash Whiskey Recipe Wanted
Just finished my first run of UJSSM in a 15 g brewhaus high capactity rig and it was amazing. I would like a mashed version to add to my table, as I have a beer background and a 30 gal heated, recirculating system mashing grain is not a problem. I distilled some extra unhopped wort from a IPA and wh...

Ghostbusters,
The people your telling to f themselves are just trying to keep you from doing something that could wind up poorly, like poisoning, explosions and the following napalm solution, and fire. Best of luck.

Re: Coach in Middle TN, or 200-300 nautical miles away?
I think just running the still and making the cuts intimidates me, any good reading on those areas?

Coach in Middle TN, or 200-300 nautical miles away?
While I will enjoy playing with my Rotavap, I want to get into a 10-15 gal setup. I have been brewing 20-49g batches of all grain home brew for a long time so mashing is easy. I understand the sensitivity of being shown how to do something, but I'm willing to meet you out somewhere or brew some beer...

Re: Distillation using Rotavap
You could probably ebay a basic setup for a few thousand, less if you find a chiller and vac pump on a good sell. I would want new glass though. I'll post some regular pics here. I'm near Nashville TN if anyone wants to check it out or brew beer. I would love a traditional stilling coach, happy to p...

Re: Distillation using Rotavap
The distillate from the peppers just has the flavor. The puree of the peppers left behind would be quite a powerful substance indeed.

Distillation using Rotavap
So, I have been a long time beer and wine distiller, now thinking about putting my Rotavap (used only for cullinary applications) to a bit more fitting use. I will not be doing large batches, as I can only process 3 liters at a time in my evaporation vessel, but still it will be fun :) I have precis...
