Don't take them to a wire brush. Copper is soft and a wire brush will damage the copper coating, I found the hand stainless steel scrubbers didn’t leave any permanent scaring on the surface of the copper. Btw, I’m in the mists of cleaning a copper element using a cocktail of white vinegar and salt....

has anyone considered using "external bending springs"?


You can get them from plumbing supplies. They are used to bend copper pipes.

Reece quoted me 6m lengths at $38.50, they won't do by the metre.
Actrol will do 30m of 6mm for $93
