I reckon this is the Whisky for breakfast. The Whisky Before Breakfast has mostly corn in it. The Whisky After Breakfast is made outa malt.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Whisky For Breakfast
This recipe is time consuming, complicated and basically a pain in the butt. Not recommended for beginners or those that are in a hurry. Patience, Grasshopper. Craftsmanship takes time, and is it's own reward. If you're in a rush, hike on down to your favorite spirits purveyor and purchase a BOJ of ...

Re: Nine Grain Cereal?
Thank you kindly for the input. I'm right there with you Dunder...I always 'pre-malt' so I don't end up with a brick. Use the iodine test and if the mash fails, I increase the heat and continue to cook until it passes the test. Then I do a 150F resting period in my BOC (Big Ole Cooler) with 3-in-1 e...

Nine Grain Cereal?
Got a 25# sack of Nine Grain Cereal free...it was out of date by three days. Also got a 2# bag of diastatic malt powder, with active enzymes (redundant). Anybody ever tried this? Ingredients seem reasonable: Cracked red wheat, cracked barley, cracked triticale, cracked white wheat, cracked rye, crac...

Punkin-Tippler-All... I'm going to preserve some Kafir limes and leaves in salt...like they do with lemons in the middle-east. Will let you know how they turn out in a few months. Will probably try in some pot stilled 'tater juice after I rinse the excess salt off 'em. Oz is in the eighties and sunn...

Punkin- 'tis fun to watch the 'panty-mouth' types do a shot of this wonderful concoction. This Friday's cocktails should include some cream liqueurs or something pink and frothy for your friend. Don't forget the pastel colored little umbrellas. Maybe he should stick to white wine...properly chilled,...

Punkin- Couldn't agree more re: recipes. Can't stand the damn things myself. Instinct and experience are the best tools...a good sniffer and palate come in handy too. It's been colder than a well digger's elbow here in Tennessee, so the Thai Terror straight out of the freezer is a real treat. Fire &...

My kinda folks here. Had a helluva crop on the farm this year, so made a few gallons of Peach~Corn squeeze with a wee bit o' molasses and honey in the wash and big fist full of crushed six row...just shy of 70% after blending the cuts from second run. Have two Kafir lime trees, so I used the zest an...

Another good supplier of goodies. Great deal on molasses for a tasty rum...cheaper than the feed store variety and no sulphur.

Re: Any corn sugar experience out there?
Corn Sugar=Dextrose. I use these guys' dextrose and fructose and some of their grains as well. Try their steel cut oats in a batch of Uncle Jessie's recipe. Both of these sugars ferment cleanly and completely dry with almost any yeast. I don't use turbo yeast. They ought to call it Turbot yeast...it...

Re: All grain horse feed.
Try adding some honey along with malt during conversion phase. Honey has some diatase in it naturally, and the sugars in it will feed the yeast...as long as the honey hasn't been overcooked or is too old. Also has other tasty goodies in it and some anti-bacterial qualities as well....should help wit...

Re: All grain horse feed.
See if your feed store has 'scratch grain' for chickens. In the SE USA we have several that are about 40% Cracked Corn, 20% Cracked Barley, 20% Cracked Rye and 20% Cracked Oats. Clean, no additives and dust-free. Makes a damn fine whisky if you stay away from turbo yeast, use a wee bit of brown suga...
