Oh damn. He uses three electrical coffee pot coils to cook that mess in the box. He expects to get $500 worth of moonshine from it.

They have these bags of chicken at Albertson's too. I got some the other day for 65 cents per pound. They were not on sale though. Sometimes I get them for 39 cents per pound.
I'm gonna try this recipe. Looks good.

Lots of great info in this thread already thank you all. Thanks FMH for starting it. I've been thinking about doing this for a while too so I ordered a cheap STC-1000 from a seller on ebay about an hour ago. Just checked and it's already been shipped but I'm sure it will take some time to get here f...

Re: Vinegar oder in most recent wash
I had one 5 gallon batch turn to vinegar. It was a racked UJSSM which sat for maybe 4 months over summer. The way I understand it is a layer of co2 sitting over the wash will protect it from the vinegar bacteria acetobacter aceti which which turns alcohol into acetic acid which is the main component...

If it's a new still it could be from the crud left behind when the still was made like flux or maybe oxidation. Maybe another cleaning run will help. It's recommended to do at least two cleaning runs on a new still with a new still or one that has had some modifications to it since there's so much c...

Re: Air cooled condenser. I'll NEVER go back to water coolin
Thanks for the link, that's not a bad price shipped. I think the scrubber might help make the condenser more efficient with 3/4" tubing. The liebig on my pot still is 1 1/4" over 3/4" and 23" long and I recently put some loosely stretched SS scrubber into the entire length of 3/4...

Actually your soldering looks pretty good and that bit of a glob of solder you can just melt it with your torch and wipe it off with a rag.

His still looks like a 2" boka. He must have spent a lot of time making those 48 bottles of suspected moonshine. If you zoom in you can see it's just a pot still with a tall riser. Liebig pointing into funnel with the water lines, and no reflux condenser. Yeah, it does look like a reflux looki...

Years ago a friend of mine had a torn rotator cuff and was having a lot of pain and his doctor gave him a cortisone shot and it helped him a lot. The only thing is it is a deep injection so he said the injection itself was a bit painful. Eventually he had surgery and he has pain free for the most pa...

You would probably be much happier with a 5 gallon or larger than with a 3 gallon because you can run larger washes and it would be easier to make cuts on a larger boiler.

The moon is out again tonight and just as bright as it was last night. No eclipse of course but still a beautiful sight. It's lower in the sky than it was last night but it hasn't been quite 24 hours since I first started looking at it last night so that may be why.

It would be really interesting to know how long is the region where condensation is happening is. Do you have a thermocouple setup by any chance? No sorry and I no longer have the boka as I chopped up to use the copper for other things. It was a 2" and it would have been ideal to check the tem...
