Re: My still and first ferment

Well, did my first run last night and I couldn't be happier. It took me a bit to get the still to the right temperature with the burner that I have but once it was on cruise control it was a sight to behold. My little still held up with no leaks and worked flawlessly. *Throws hat into the air and f...

Re: Carbon filtering

I contacted EZ filter last year. The plastic in their filters are fine as long as its below 110 proof. I'll try and dig up their reply email and post it later.

Myself I just use coffee papers if at all!

Re: My still and first ferment

To be honest mate I think that is more of a display item. Your cuts will be almost impossible to achieve on this small a scale.
One of the HD mentors will clarify on this one?

Re: My still and first ferment

What capacity is that? You'll find it hard to make decent cuts judging by the image. My local brew shop has one exactly the same but for display purposes only? Has it been used before this by anyone else?

I've tried pink lady's but they seem to loose a lot of flavour. The red delicious here produce massive amounts of liquid.

Thanks tater I have. Just like to hear what people have experienced is all...
I personally love a blend of red and green apples when doing a batch. Our red delicious here in Australia are super sweet and loaded with sugar content.

Recipe for apples?

Hi guys,
Love the forum! Such a wealth of knowledge in one place!
Was wondering if someone had a nice apple recipe for my pot still?
I'm after something clean and crisp that isn't too heady.
Appreciate any info you could give?
I'm looking at around 60lt wash.
