Re: advise on my ujssm

not a airlock but hose grommet from the lid down to a one gal jug. i think it would have sucked the water up first, it's a pretty tuff container.

Re: advise on my ujssm

well I'm definitely no expert, but from everything I've seen the only real important part is that it's lead free. and if course lead free flux, pref water based as it cleans up easier.

Re: upgrades, keg and column.

did a 7 gal run today. biggest so far. man that lava worked great. ( well in combo with the 2" column ) didn't work as good last run. just getting to know her i guess. today i had it cranked pretty good, going a good 5 drops a sec. and was still hitting 96.5. don't even really need it that stro...

Re: upgrades, keg and column.

there you go, good idea. right now i just funnel them into a water bottle. kind of a pain as they don't really like coming out of the column when there packed well. only done one run so far, maybe i'll think of something that would be easier

Re: Lets Talk Column Packing

meant to post this the other day. not sure about the diameter, but it's 302 grade i think that's good enough. and it's dirt cheap. found some 430 by the same seller, think it's less than half the price but i don't trust any 400 grade enough for this kind of project. this is probably what i will get ...

yeah I think I'll stick to pure ptfe. if i wouldn't use it I wouldn't want to sell it. might just by some ptfe sheet and make my own. sounds cost effective.

Re: upgrades, keg and column.

wait oakback if your going to 3" are you going to change the flange to fit? or use an adapter. then you prob wouldn't have the lip no matter what. but you could use another idea i had. pretty much the same but just drill holes just big enough for the wire at the base of your column. then solder...

buna o-rings

well i'm thinking of making some stainless valves and selling on ebay or something. i work at a machine shop and the design is very basic. the only problem is that ptfe o-rings are hard to find and expensive. i found some buna n 70 o-ring that are coated with teflon on ebay but it states that the te...

Re: diy hydrometer test jar

yeah the idea was a scrap. when i first found out there was mercury there i didn't think much of it. i knew that it melts at like 30 some odd degrees or something so i figured the torch would get rid of any possible trace. that was also before i found out that vapor is the worst way to come in conta...

well it's pretty old now. couple years. but i'm sure it still gets browsed. good idea. I don't trust brass. and like i said it regulates drops much better. well once i took the crappy rubber seals out of the brass valve. too cheap to go stainless for now. there actually not as bad as they were. stil...

Re: diy hydrometer test jar

ha no sh!%. and i actually just made all you mentioned this build. did the copper valve this time to, and i think i was able to tweak it just enough to not drip. i must have made it too short or something first go, dripped a lot, but is sure as hell had MUCH better adjustment than my "lead free...
