Re: SPP packing questions?

Is there any difference in SS wire to use in making SPP. Like 304,308, or 316 wire. Also what about the letters behide the numbers on some of the wire. I know you don't want flex coated wire but that is as far as my knowledge goes in regards to SS mig wire.

Re: SPP packing questions?

I will keep you informed. It may be a little while though. Working a lot of hours. Just because I have been around for a little while doesn't mean I'm still not a noob. A lot of this stuff goes way over my head. I'm not to bad with my hands. Brain is a lot slower now a days since I became an old man.

Re: SPP packing questions?

Thanks Manc that explanation helps me to understand how SPP works in regards to productivity and quality. Most posts I read a BBC out SPP were older posts and even though somethings don't change over time they can be tweaked. Since SS wire is expensive just trying to cover everything before I spend ...

Re: SPP packing questions?

So by looking at that graph the round helix has the highest HETP efficiency. Which I would think to be the easiest to make? Hope I'm right. Re: SPP packing questions?

I could have sworn that one of the posts I read in regards HETP said the lower number was better which kind of didn't sound right but then again I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. So the higher the numbers on all 3 graphs are better then just to confirm? Thanks again for your help

Re: What size torch tips do you use?

I have a smaller cutting torch which does a really good job on larger items. A year ago I bought a jewelry torch set. Absolutely love it especially when working in tight corners, like condensers ect. That way you don't blow the solder of something you just soldered. Works really nice.

With reference to the graph there are the 2 other graphs beside the HETP graph. Are they the same as the HETP graph meaning the lower the number the better?

SPP packing questions?

Been reading past couple days about SPP packing and I think I want to to to make some to try in a 4 inch column. If I remember right sizing needs to be 1/10 column dia. If my math is correct that would end up 1.016 mm, or .04 inches. If I'm wrong please correct me. Then length I think the post said ...

Really nice work. I was wondering about your site glasses and how they connect to your column. Are they just soldered to 2 inch pipe or to a tri clamp ferrel.

It is in his best interest as well as other manufacturers to work towards legalization. Definitely more money to be made if hobby distilling is legalized. I'm sure that all if not the majority of manufacturers hated to turn over name's. Unfortunately they had no choice.

If you have bought one from a manufacture take the info for what it is...

I sure you know this but most cruise companies will give you a free cruise for every 8 cabins that you put together in your group. The numbers may have changed slightly since it's been 10 or so years ago that I put a group together

Re: Can I use filtered water for mash

What do you use for your drinking water? People for years have used water from a Creek and sworn that it is best. Like rock checker said you can use distilled water but you would have to add back certain things. Why buy something that you have to add something to so as to use it.

I think I would just use the cistern and probably wouldn't filter it. Definitely would not be using distilled water for mash. Only use it for diluting final drinking product to proof it down

Re: Can I use filtered water for mash

Distilled water isn't good except for when diluting final product. Regular well water would be good. Rain water is good also. Filtered water I wouldn't use either. Yeast need the minerals and other things in the water. I use city water with good results. Chlorine isn't the best but as of yet it hasn...
