Welcome! It's refreshing to seeing someone endeavoring to NOT kill themselves for a change. My usual spiel is "read read read". You don't seem to need it. So instead I will tell you to keep up the good work, you will find a great group of people here willing to answer all of your questions.

Welcome to the forum. That being said, it's your ass, and the asses of anyone you share your stuff with, who you are risking. Nobody here, especially after the aforementioned warnings, stand to lose anything by you being a poisoned dumbass. Conversely, nobody here stands to gain anything by you not ...

The recipe: 150 lbs pitted peaches (blended to oblivion), 3gal hot water, 10kg brown sugar, EC-1118, DAP The method: Removed nasty crust at top, ran at about 93C using pot still, discarded first 250ml, ran from that to about 38% (hard to tell bc it was coming out of my leibold hot) into one containe...

I'll have you all know that my rum is superb with a capital 'WOW'. And then I aged it. In what I can only assume are pine barrels. Less wow. Lol were just busting your chops :p. Well I only got 30 yrs experience so this may not mean much.. You are going to look each other in the eyes and make a vow to take something all the way to the end. That something is commitment. You will be together happily til the end if you hold to your vow. Your word that you are going to do some...

I enjoy this thread. I've been more or less relentlessly harassed about this whole kool-aid hooch. For a while I actually considered it, but at the end of the day decided nah. Never much cared for the stuff. These candy ferments sound pretty interesting, though. My particular location surrounds me i...

Re: The liar's bench

Here is one for Janitor47. I had to piss at the hospital last week while getting a breast reduction and saw his name by the door. As no one was looking, I walked in and whizzed on everything, even splashing some on me. Janitor.jpg Lift your hospital gown next time you try that. It will increase you...

Re: Thoughts on the mini barrels

How do you know that they cannot be salvaged? Have you tried? Yup. I thought it was the wax originally and had Ralph send me some without wax. Mine all had charred ends. Lost way too much time and effort into those barrels. Ended up using them for decorations. Thanks for the heads up, 3d0g. I won't...

They also had some kind of wax on the inside also. I'm guessing it was used as a sealant?

Re: Thoughts on the mini barrels

Don't bother. Don't know where elguedo gets his oak (or even if it is oak) but there's no amount of soaking / sanding / charring that will salvage them. Just use them as decorations. That would have been good to read 10 minutes ago LOL. I just took both barrels apart (banging the rings of was easy)...

I'm considering dismantling them, sanding the staves, re-charring them, then finally dropping them into a plastic pail of rum.

Re: Thoughts on the mini barrels

I've got a question. I've aged rum in 2- 5 liter barrels. Here's the weird thing: After three months, it came out tasting like I'd been soaking it in potpourri. I let it go another 8. Now it's super gross. Any ideas? I'd also lost about 30% of my volume in the three months. I cured that my shrink wr...

Welcome from Canada also! I found that fitting in the the Yanks here was easy. All you need are overalls, and to say 'YEEHAW!' a lot.

Read, read, read, then read some more. That's the best advice you can get on here. Don't forget that distilling can be very dangerous if not done correctly. YEEHAW!!

Re: The liar's bench

Champix was amazing. The dreams were incredible. Then about a week and a half in I read about all the side effects  and decided I should quit that as well as cigs. I just hit the three year mark, and I still miss it sometimes. Sometimes I pass by a smoker and gag; other times I grab them, pul...
