Re: Air cooled condenser
zip tied over the sluts WHAT??? Should work ok, but the width of the slot matters, you would want the air to flow over the fins. Also maybe to balance and have even air flow over the full length, taper the slots, wider toward the fan narrower toward the cap. The air will want to flow straight down ...

Re: Air cooled condenser
There will always be a small amount of pressure, has to be a difference for anything even steam to move. Take atmospheric pressure at sea level 75'F at 50% RH you have about 14.69 psi of air pushing downwards, for vapor to move up it needs to have some force to push it upwards even a few feet, hence...

Re: Can't find 2" copper pipe or fittings
I get my suuplues from local plumbing companies, also try local HVAC companies. None of the box stores sell 2 in, and the supply houses only sell by the 20 foot.

Re: Still made to run on a motorcycle?
Once you get pass the safety issues I could see a heat exchanger on the exhaust feed a gallon pot still with an air cooled condenser, but how would one make cuts, or monitor the system to shut it down when you got to the tails?

I used an extra ferrule over the gasket rotating as I sanded to get a smooth even finish.

Re: best power controller for steam injection boiler
If your talking about a control for the steam boiler you really need to educate yourself on the control systems. You will need high pressure safety switches as well as low water level switches in line with your temperature controller. There are pressure relief valves that should be used also. If you...

Re: Espresso copper boiler tank pot still build
I'm interested to see this progress, so long as its safe, because I have a three gallon stainless water heater out of a dual Bunn coffee maker I've been looking at maybe useing. Dual 2500 watt 208 volt elements, each element is about three feet long.

Re: Copper & Copper Alloy Tube and Pipe Standards
All of that is great information. What it boils down to as far as copper tubing "pipe" is concerned is as follows: Nominal "plumbing" tubing is sized by OD outer diameter and is 99.9% plus copper so 3/4 in pipe takes 3/4 in fittings ACR "refrigerant" tubing is ID inner ...

Thanks for the welcome. I've read through all the newbie stuff and a good many build threads and I understand the physics behind what the process of distillation accomplishes.

Re: Seeking 4" DWV
My best local source for cut length materials is from local plumbers shops. They purchase full length copper regularly then use cuts for repairs leaving cut offs that they are willing to sellto friendly locals genersly at cost since they already profited from the markup from the job they were doing ...

Just saying hello from the Midwest. Not heavy into the distilling side but really enjoy helping friends construct their units.
