Thanks for answering all of my questions on sourcing the required parts for the modification. Seems like this is going to be the ...

Re: Stop using Elbows and go with a "T" - CCVM Build
I am fine with asking the questions here, aside from looking like I dont know anything, perhaps I am a little bashful, lol! 1. What length was that uncoated 3/8 gas line that you bought? How long is your condenser when finished? That will determine how much 2 " pipe to add on top of the T I'm a...

Re: Stop using Elbows and go with a "T" - CCVM Build
ShineOn you have me very intrigued! I very recently went through the agonizing process of making a neutral (All Bran) with my pot still. I don't run a keg, I have a 14 gallon stock pot run over a propane burner, 3 ft column to the 90 degree elbow, over to my 36" liebig condensor. A total of 60 ...

Re: Triple distilling
Cant say that I have ever triple distilled my rum. I run a pot still and normally for me I strip my washes until I have around 25 liters or so of low wines and then I do a slow spirit run, collecting in 200ml samples. I usually end up with a total of 9-10 liters during my spirit run. After making cu...

Re: Hello from South Western Ontario
I guess I should have added that I don't run a keg but use a 14 gallon/52 liter stainless stock pot. The Masterchef burner works really well for my set up.
+1 on always having a spare tank of propane around as you will run out at some point and need to do a quick swap.
Cheers

Re: Hello from South Western Ontario
Hey Duncan,
I use that exact propane burner from Canadian tire and have done so for the last few years. No complaints with it at all. It has all the power you need and then some. Once things come to a boil you don't need much of a flame to keep it going.
Cheers

Happy Days! Odin, thank you for taking the time and sharing this recipe and method, and for your continued comments on this thread that you started 4 years ago! Re: All Bran Recipe
Well my first neutral out of my pot still is complete and boy what a labor intensive process, an enjoyable one but very labor intensive. Might need to build me a bokabob in the future to cut down on the time. I started out with a total of 225 liters of wash, all of which has had a stripping run and ...

Re: Odin's Easy Gin
I find this whole topic utterly fascinating and have been following this post closely and can't wait to get started on my gin adventures! I only have a pot still and my boiler is a 52Qt/50L/14 gal stainless stock pot so the process of making a neutral is a time consuming one. I am working on some Al...

Re: All Bran Recipe
Managed to spirit run my last carboy of All Bran low wines this weekend. So all said and done I have stripped approx 225 liters of wash, which resulted in roughly 75 liters of low wines. All of which has now had one spirit run and has left me with 12-13 liters of approx 76% abv spirit after cuts. Ho...

Rich S-You don't need a plated still and no I don't have any packing. This is my first attempt and I am still working away at it but there are a few guys on here that are quite successful at making a neutral on their pot stills and that is what gave me the idea to try it myself. The thing with a pot...

Welcome from another left coast Canuck! I too am a pot stiller and have been for the last few years now. I use a liebig condeser, never had a worm. My outlet on the liebig is 1/2" which is around 13mm
I have a 2 foot column coming off the top of my pot (for ease of collection) and then it goes to my condenser from there.
Heres a picture to make it easier

Welcome Thatstink! I run a pot still with a USA 14 gallon pot, aprox 52 liters and that goes to a 36" liebig condenser and I run it on a outdoor propane burner. I also do 25 liter ferments and when I am stripping them I can strip mine in about 1 to 1.5 hours. When I do a 25 liter spirit run I a...

Re: All Bran Recipe
Just another update on my progress. It finally got warm enough that I was able to spend a solid weekend in my garage and a good 15 hours of stilling time. On Saturday I managed to get another 75 liters of All Bran stripped down to around 5 gallons of low wines @ 34%-35%. On Sunday I ran a spirit run...

Re: Odin's Easy Gin
If you re-read the whole post you will see that Odin says you can dilute it down to 30%-35% and you will gin that is less dry. Not a problem but like Still Stirrin said your ABV may be lower.
