Re: Ph Meter

I'm not familiar with the pH meter you are asking about. Here is what I use But, I spend a lot of time working in the field measuring pH, TDS, salinity, and dissolved oxygen, so the cost is well worth it. BTW the Hach LDO probes are a quantum leap forward in DO measurement! (no I don't sell Hach equ...

Or you might try it this way: Use a 2" to 3/4" reducing fitting with the 2" fit sleeve cut down, turn it around backwards so that the 3/4" end is pointing down towards the tee, then slide the 2" reflux condenser shroud into the tee behind the reducing fitting. Reducing fittings have the same diamete...

simple airing will take out chlorine but some water supplies are useing chloramie.and that takes a little more like campden . Yep, what he said... If you water is chlorinated with chlorine gas or hypochorite, boiling or letting the water stand for a day or so will dechlorinate it. It just evaporate...

Did you de-chlorinate the water coming from the city or county water system? Chlorine will inhibit yeast growth.

A water analysis is a good idea. It's hard to know where you're going if you don't know where you're starting from.

Just like to point out that freon isn't entirely safe, know a bit about it before you cut the pipes! Also, releasing loads into the air isn't great for the ozone layer... Air conditioner units here in the US haven't used freon for years... They use a synthetic freon now... Organic "free range" freo...

Re: Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash

Sorry about the delayed response. I only saw you post today. Hopefully you haven't given up yet. Have you checked the pH of your ferment? If your wash becomes too acidic, pH less than 3.5, it could cause the loss of fermentation you describe. Ideally, yeast-wise, the pH should be 3.7 - 4.7. If your ...
