Would be really cool if it was steam powered. Its an old Ritter dental air compressor, set for 40 psi.. .. whisper quiet. I push mine to 78psi. Use it for air brushing and touche up gun..

When starting out i had similar still, but with a SS 2 gallon stock pot w/inverted bowl and everlasting gasket. Had members worn me of same concern. I promptly stored my 1/4" worm to never use as a worm again. No reason to be here for half a year and still use this type of rig...

when clamping something would be best to have equal clamping pressure... if your going to use binder clips only use binder clips, if your using vise-grips only use vise grips and so on.. my 2cents worth

Try wrapping your gasket with 2-3 more wraps.. i'm thinking it worked before, should work for you again..? Can you post a pic of your gasket up close? I personally would only weld the bowl if i had a 4" ferrule to access the inside. Also i use these clamps spaced 2" apart or so.

I use coffee filters on either ends of my column when not in use, wouldn't stop a mouse but you would know if something entered.
