I have made batches out of all kinds of things, ranging from fruit to corn mash, honey to molasses, refined sugar to unrefined sugar, even potatoes. But when a friend of mine asked if I could make it out of Ginger, I told him I didn't know, but that I didnt think it would work. Well he brought me 5 ...

And found them very informative and full of good ideas for things to try at a later date. For Christmas I thru a candy cane in my mason jars and let it disolve. My friends loved it. It was quick simple and cheap. I know its cheating, but what can I say. Have any of you just tossed something in the s...

Been doing research on the forum and off. What I have found still didnt give me the simple yes/no answer I was hoping to figure out. Which is the best producing type of starch to use in a batch? I have only used corn mash, as a starch mix, but I used alot of fruit, different types of sugars, and bas...

OK, Got A question....
I have been going through the forum alot. Enjoying the info, and learning alot. I have seen in multiple posts and recipes, that some use tomato paste in the mix, but can't find the reason why. I personally HATE tomatoes, but if it helps with the fermenting, then I would really like to know. Anyone w...

Came into possession of a large stainless steel pressure cooker. It will hold approx. 2 gallons, with still having several inches from the fluid to the lid, for steam expansion. Now on most my still's, I tend to use smaller size copper tubing to go from the still, into the cooling bucket and coiling...

Well Really Hating The Cold Weather coming In
Even after putting my fermenting bucket on a stack of towels infront of the mall heater, it still took my corn meal mash 2 days to start showing signs of doing anything. The burper is finally bubbling but about half the normal rate. This is going to be a long ferment. I hear talk of yeast that is be...

Well made it through another day at the "Salt mines" as it were. I hate working retail this time of year. Dealing with rude, messy, pushy customers, and their uncontrolled, unruly, kids. Dealing with all the freight coming in for Black Friday, and Christmas, the freight is pilling up in th...

Well winter has come to Oregon,
After a long average summer, we are once again into our rainy season. The first trick or treaters that showed up at my door were three girls between 12 and 14. I could not believe what they were wearing. One was a vampire with a dress short as Hell. So, out of those out there, that are married, how does your wife feel, or think, about the time you spend on the process of doing the distilling process?
