Re: Modular flute plate design. A few issues...

One thing that you mentioned that would be a bad idea is re flowing the solder to change the cup height for the plates. As soon as you start flowing the solder you're going to have to do another cleaning run before you can run product. Open this helps avoid issues later.

Well chalk this one up as a learning experience. Go to transfer into keg. Remove ''sealed'' to find a lacto or vinigar infection taking hold. Not sure if a sour beer is going to be any good. But I'm going to find out. And if nothing else It will be stripped for the etho. Next time ill ferment in ca...

Re: Boiler skin thickness, heat retention etc

It's run on internal water heaters the holes are cut and tapped right into the ss plate on the side. But could easily be run on a custom gass burner if I made a brick shroud for the lower half of.it. or dig a trench and run it on fire or more accurately a hot coal bed. I can also run it off steam. O...

And what do you mean you don't need another still. There's always room for another still.

Re: Boiler skin thickness, heat retention etc

Kegs are handy. If you're going larger scale ( which were not going to discuss on this forum. Got to respect the rules here) either the ss barrels or ss ibc totes work a treat. I had a custom boiler made. It's 1/4 thick ss. It's fucking heavy. It takes 2 people to move it. It takes forever to heat u...

Beer keg safety issue

Alright. This is a safety question. One of my original boilers is a true 15 gallon beer keg. It was never molested as it was run on a propane burner. The question is. Can I still use this as a beer keg under normal operating pressure or will having used it for a boiler make it unsafe to pressurize?

Teflon is ok but that silicone hose that's in the pic is not safe for alcohol of any kind. Silicone is only ok for water. So if that hose is in contact with alcohol or alcohol vapor it needs to go

Well finally got this into the fermenter. Hoping it turns out well. Finally grain bill was 24 lbs. Final volume was aproxx 14 gallons. Og after temp correct right before I pitched yeast was 1.052. Pretty satisfactory for a first go. Next time will be a full fly sparge instead of a mix between fly an...

Re: Shotgun boiler (not condenser)

It would absolutly give you faster heat up times if you were over a fire for a heat source. But to be honest with how much extra work and how many potential leak points you are adding to a boiler that is going to contain hot alcohol over a fuel and ignition source it wouldnt be a modification I woul...

Ouch. Thats going to be a fun mess. You just learned a lesson the hard way. Always leave adiquate head space. And always have a back up containment system. Get that bucket it a large garbage bag to contain any spills and keep swmbo from turning th evil eye on you and your new found hobby.

Re: Are there sealants that are safe to use in a wash?

Jb. Being that it has its a temp controller built in as long as you don't heat past the barrels capacity ( and being that you're simply using it to keep the barrel at fermenting temp you're golden with this.

Re: Blond ale all grain help

Well after having a long convo with bitter, I turned a spare chest cooler into a mash tun for the cost of a braided ss line and a 99 cent in line valve. So for 15 dollars I have a insulated mash tun that should handle a full 15 gallon batch of beer. Was soldering on my ball valve to the kettle and o...

Ladies and gentleman, I've about had it. This 4 inch modular playground idea was about as successful as my marriage. I'm about ready to scrap my 4 inch flute altogether. Hi and welcome here. For a brandy just a very simple pot still will be fine for double runs, for gin you would do well to further reflux it. Take a look around and you will soon find all you need to get it done  . I guess you are too optimistic! New on distilling! So knowing nothing at all...

First welcome. Second if.you can cancel your order it would be in your beat interest. That equipment is not only poorly designed but not safe either.

A few days reading and you will begin to.understand why I've suggested that you cancel your order.
