Re: HD T-Shirts

Years ago I was the manager of an amateur sports team. We went went through a similar dilemma. I made the mistake of asking the entire club about logo design. Every one of them had a different idea about it. Similar to the scenario here. Giving everyone an opinion means lots of opinions and nothing ...

So I made a 25 L L wash using 1 of giant raisins and 1kg of fresh grapes with 50 yeast and 10 g nutrients and a starting gravity of 1.060, 8 days later it had dropped to 0.9 then did a strip run followed by a store run and ended up with 2lof 65% ABV. I used oak wood chips to give it colour and a bi...

I have a friend who is a member here. He is in the middle of the evacuation zone. From the maps of the fire boundary it looks like he’s maybe a mile from the flames. I’m sure he’s ok. But his house is still in danger if the wind changes direction. I was on evacuation standby for 36 hours. That was n...

I bought a Hottop basic almost three years ago. It was an expensive way to get started, but the machine has, or is very close to having, paid for itself. Sadly, my supply of green coffee is running dangerously low with the Canada-US border closed; Sweetmaria's shipping charges to my package place i...

Hi 0Nschi: Welcome. My words of wisdom are “Read“. There is great info on this site. There are no shortcuts in making good spirits. And before you try out your Old pot still find out how old it is. Old solder Contains lead. Not good. And if the still is under 5 gallons the amount of finished product...

Re: New ideas and innovations

Or my favorite, a single vessel that one mashes and ferments in, then tri-clamps a pot still on and distills on grain. That's the way that I do it. I mash and ferment in a 55 gal SS drum, then move the clear beer to a 30 gal stripping boiler, convert the 55 gal drum to a thumper leaving the slop in...

Welcome. I live in the Bay Area also. I came on to this site with a little experience distilling. What I knew was so basic. HD made me a better, more knowledgeable, and safer. Plus, I think I can make a pretty good drop because of this place.
Lots of info here.
