How about the sweet feed do you have a pic of that bag. If you use it. I started a batch then seen where it said now pellets. I bought pellets from TSC. Should I toss it.

Re: sweetfeed whisky
Well shoot, I just seen the post about pellets. I bought a bag from tractor supply. It looked like a pallet. I'm on day 4. Do I need to trash it and buy something else. I turned to mush when it hit the hot water

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method
I'm not sure about corn. I read both ways. I want to start my wash so I went to tractor supply and picked up 50 lbs. of cracked corn and sweet feed. Trying them both. Got to reading and it says it has preservites. Use it or not. I've seen it both ways in reading.

Re: Superstart Distiller's yeast question
If I understand this right a wash is sugar and a mash can have sugar and you convert starch from say corn to more sugar using malt or amylase. Right

Re: Superstart Distiller's yeast question
I'm going to be starting a ujssm and a sweetfeed whisky wash. What will give me the best flavor superstart distillers yeast or Fleshmans yeast. I stopped using turbo and lowered wash abv to improve my taste. From what I'm reading it was the way to go. Now I see some thing different.

I also red sweetfeed whisky post. I like it. Want to try that one also. Thinking about changing my yeast from Fleshmans bread yeast to superstart distillers yeast. What are your thoughts about that.

Re: Water source?
I'm going to get some 5 gal plastic water jugs and fill to top. Do they need to be air tight or coffee filter and rubber band? Starting to get into 40-30 here is that to cold to be out side. I can leave inside in front of widows if that works. I think while I have one started I can refill and when i...

Re: Adding oats to a ujssm?
I'm getting ready to do my first ujssm. Will cracked corn form tractor supply work. I was told to look for air dried not gas dried. Or go to a feed store. Not sure where to buy. I will try sweet corn after I get this one down. I want to get stocked up for compairing.

Re: Water source?
I guess now I confused. I've always read and been told how important water is, (like NY pizza is the best because of the water) even distilleries say the water that flows through limestone is the best for bourbon. I've been buying at Walmart for .68 per gallon. I'm going to try it with a sugar wash....

Re: Types of sugar
Hey Tader, how do these sugars compare to sugar converted from corn. My question is what will i notice if i run a UJSM w/white sugar vs converting corn to sugar using malt or amylaze. is it worth the trouble to convert? i ran a batch using pressed corn from a brew store 17 lbs w/ 10 gal water= 5% AB...
