Glaciertanks had a couple of 2inch triclamp pipes I couldn't say no to.
One for a condenser extension, one for a keg drain.

Bumping thread for any updates? I am getting ready to set up a larger boiler (100L) with electric heating with a 4” hybrid build, so starting to research again. Did this still ever get finished? Has anyone else done a plated CCVM? Cheers The whole shebang is still sitting i my basement, waiting to ...

Perry and cider have been bulk aging under co2 since December 2015. They have matured nicely but they just aren't a good "daily drinker". Too complex. I think they would make an interesting brandy.

It's just about time to empty the kegs from 2015 to make some room.

Re: Lets get carried away with fruity goodness

Apple season has come to a close. All that's left is getting 5 14gal barrels into the cool corner of the basement. This year was hectic... I didn't take a single gravity reading, and didn't sulfite any of the fresh juice. I had the wife pick up an order from the homebrew store. They gave me powdered...

Re: New Apple Press

Maybe a 20 ton press was a bit too much... I thought that when I was looking at jacks, I thought about a 20 ton but I already had a 12 ton from jacking my house and figured if a 12 ton could lift a house it could press apples. I think I also overbuilt the press just a skosh. I was surprised you bro...

Oh no! When I used a scissor jack my frame never even made a peep. I swapped that out for a 6 ton bottle jack last year - it creaks and groans a bit if I get too aggressive. I find it better to build up some pressure, then let it sit for a minute, then apply more. Trying to squeeze all at once is n...

This is stealing... you are putting a deposit down with the intention of cutting that keg and never returning it. The keg isn't the distributor's to sell, it belongs to the brewer.

Re: New Apple Press

Reviving this old thread to share my success. Last year was a total bust for apples. This year was better but the season peaked early due to a hot hot september. Re: Lets get carried away with fruity goodness

Today, I finally gave up on apples for the year. I pinned my hopes on one roadside tree that still had fruit, but the branches were too high to pick and the damn thing was too big to shake them lose. Looked so much smaller driving at 50mph. The night wasn't a total waste, however; I stopped at an ol...

It's a sad day for fruity goodness, men.

I made calls to 5 landowners with feral orchards and not a single one produced this year.

It looks like I'll have to poach some crabs from the roadside and buy a pickup truck full of drops from a local producer if I want to make anything this weekend.
