Re: Reflux column on a thumper

Build it and run it,,, all the theory is just theory. Theory is just a guide, there are always variables in practice.
You wont know till you try.

What do you think about clamping my 3” column to it and applying some pressure?
Exactly what i did, works well and the keg doesn't take much pressure to bend slightly.

Re: CIP Clean In Place

I welded a socket in the side of the keg, mounted the ball dead center for full coverage.

Re: CIP Clean In Place

I have that exact ball in my boiler, I run it with our bore pump so have plenty of water pressure. My domestic water supply does not have the pressure or volume to run it very well. But with enough water pressure they are great.

Theres more than one kind of parrot, I use one that I can empty on every cut and I wouldn't do a run without it.

Re: Several runs from a single ferment keeping infection out

Sometimes if I get interrupted stripping a large batch I pour my strip back into the fermenter to bring the ABV right up which keeps infection at bay till I can get back to it.

Re: Using oatmeal for neutral?

I have made a lot of neutral spirit, I have tried cereal and grain sugar heads, TPW, as well as AG using 100% malted wheat. All get stripped then a slow spirit run through 5 perf plates and a 600mm packed section. The end result is always the same, clean, tasteless, odorless neutral spirit. There is...

Re: 4" SS Pot with Thumper

The thumper is a typical inline thumper, 3" riser, 4" cap and 1" downcomer. The downcomer extends into the boiler to the same depth as the elements so should never be above the liquid. The top of the thumper has 4" tri clamp for the pot head as well as 2" tri clamp connectio...

Thanks Lyonse, There's a 12" long section above the thumper that will be filled with copper rolled mesh.
