Re: It's the 21st century fer cryin' out loud !!! WTF ?

He could best most of the teachers i have had for math. Its quite sad really, my seven year old nephew is going into grade two, insted of h...

Re: My new Apple Chopper
As you may or may not know Cranky. I make HDPE sheets. Do you think the drum could be made from it, or would it cause an issue? I understand with the bucket there was an issue with scoring the walls. I was thinking the bearing would solve that issue. I was thinking on keeping the bottom stainless. J...

Re: Test of some ageing knowledge.
Indeed so moon. Monitoring both ambiant and exact liquid temp inside the barrel is a definite. Would give some insight on what ambiant temp does to angels share compared to what the temp of the spirit is at. Not sure what the instantaneous event would cause. Over time the difference is going to be s...

That I didnt NZ thank you. Have you thought about sticking them together? Using the byproduct heat from your ferments to heat your stock? It may cause a slight drop in the ferment temp but I imagine it would be minute.

Test of some ageing knowledge.
So with a recent conversation I was brought to thinking....I know, pretty dangerus right?, We know of the benifit to aging. We also know the difference between aging in V.S. on wood. I am thinking of a set of tests that isolate the benifits. Such as the loss/ gain of % abv aging in wood. The removal...

Re: volume to surface area ratio help
:ewink: Indeed, I Wood like to see it as well! I did forget about the end grain. I do think there is a good thred on end grain...I have read that angels share removes some unwanteds but also depending on the relative humidity of the storage area it can either raise the proof slightly or the opposite...

Re: volume to surface area ratio help
If i may think vary linierly... If tryin to match the same volume to surface are as a barrel in a jar. Your going to/ are looking for a looong ageing time? NZ the differance being ( one of many things) things like angels share? Although that can be replicated by exposing the likker to air at interval.

It is note worthy however, be ready for it to be judged for safety. Im sure that it is but it will be checked. Not to say...
