Re: Maybe I got a little too bit comfortable
I doubt if anyone will get their undies in a twist about it, but in future, if you decide to tell anyone about this place, my humble recommendation would be to point them towards the home site, not the forum, and earnestly encourage them to read EVERYTHING. At least once if not twice, then and only ...

Horrible news. Say what you want about lumberjacking or deep sea fishing or any other risky occupation, nothing would make the hairs on my neck stand up more than being a deep earth miner.

Why is vodka 40 percent alcohol?
http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2010/11/22/why_is_vodka_40_percent_alcohol/ The Russian czar Ivan the Terrible (1546-1584) introduced a monopoly on vodka production, making the government responsible for quality. The law apparently allowed barkeeps who watered down vodka to be be...

Re: Fake ‘vodka’ factory found after warehouse fire
All I have to say is that article is the first place that I have ever seen the term "cL" referring to volume. I thought that only existed on high-school tests about the metric system. We see milliliters and liters often enough, and I think blood sugar is measured in deciliters, but I've n...

Re: rahr 2 row
Thought the topic was barley not corn, Dunder. You don't need to boil barley and it gelatinizes at the optimum temp in less than an hour. I've done it at 149F (65C) or thereabouts many times without ever bringing the water to boil and get great conversions with no risk of accidentally denaturing the...

Re: rahr 2 row
So do most people boil their whiskey wash? I've read both ways. Whether malted or unmalted, barley doesn't need to be boiled, and IMO doesn't benefit from boiling. It takes a little longer to gelatinize at the optimum temperature, but the amount of starch released is higher and the flavor of the fi...

Lets say that this "entity/force/wish" gave you the ability/talent of your choice. The ability to give a woman the theoretical height of romantic and sexual pleasure. Trust me, I wouldn't HAVE to charge, the wealthy ones would tip very well. And since that's a gift, not me asking for it, ...

Re: Lots of tails - fermentation question
I've been spending more time lately poking around the homebrew sites and forums, trying to better understand how to best treat barley. I was going to Albertson's when they had sugar on sale, 40 cents a lb in 5 lb bags but you HAD to buy 10 bags to get that price, so it was no big deal if you bought a large amount.
