3, 1 gallon thumpers on a 13.6 gallon pot.
I tried them tonight and wow, so much smoother and 90% of the tap. Unfortunately my pics are to big to upload, description is, they are made from stainless, 4 times distilled in one run, what do you pros think of this method, have you tried it?

Re: accelerated aging process
I love the feed back on this topic, I have learned a lot in the past year and understand much more about Angel hairs and exchange of oxygen. I tried using the same methods but have warmed the jars slowly in pots of water up to 90 degrees and been using 1/8 oak lids with extremely small slots that sw...

Re: Why not 3 thumpers?
Thanks for the input guys, I'm using a 12.5 gallon pot, I am in the process of getting Pyrex glass incase in stainless steel 1/2 gallon thumpers set up now, I have had great luck so far but won't chance any longer, but will for sure keep using 3.

Why not 3 thumpers?
I've been using 3 thumpers for the past while, made from 1.8 litre mason jars, some have said that all you need is one, I disagree! I find that this 3 not only increases my % but also seems to make my recipe all that much smoother. Please give your imput. img20160511_055349.png img20160511_055349.png

I should also mention, usually this recipe is dark brown not light in color, also when I put the back wash in it was well over 190 degrees so I'm sure it cooked it.

I left 5 gallons of back wash and new sweetfeed ingredients in my mash barrel for 2 weeks waiting to get money together for sugar and such, it has a weird smell and has turned creamy in color. Should I continue to finish this ferment? It almost smells like it fermented. Has this happened to anyone e...

Re: Amylase and sweetfeed?
Ops, hit the submit button by mistake, I was wondering if it was possible to subtract adding sugar by adding more feed and using the enzymes, so your saying it's possible, what would be a good starting gravity?

Re: Amylase and sweetfeed?
I'm not up on exactly what you are telling me to do, but I am researching gelatinization, I really love the flavor and smoothness of sweetfeed whiskey, so would be very happy to achieve this without the use of sugar. Are you saying that I have to malt the corn and grind it up some how?

I'm thinking I can cut that piece out of the bottom and wild a patch over over it and if that cap doesn't unscrew I will cut a hole big enough for a rubber stopper to use as a fill hole and clean out also I can drill a hole and insert my meat thermometer down through the rubber stopper. I wish I cou...

advice on this keg please
Has anyone used an old school 12.5 gallon hoff-stevens beer keg as a pot still? Not sure but it looks like someone started to convert it as it has a adapter for 3/8 compression fitting. Not sure if that is a cap that will unscrew or not as I don't have a pipe wrench or pliers big enough to get it to...

I get the whole nuclear whiskey thing, j just don't understand why people think it's better to heat it fast as compared to a slow even rate.

Re: Buck's sweetfeed recipe
Fg was a little higher than I would like to see but it seemed to add a hint of sweet taste to the distillate. Perhaps I will try a lower starting gravity next time and see if I get the same whiskey that I have come to love. I do appreciate your feed back guys.

I just use a 1/2 inch hose weighted on one end and on the output end I use cheese cloth I attach it with an elastic, I syphon slow and it doesn't stir the mash up.

I wasn't 100% sure where to post this but I do know that I read some questions about aquarium heaters here somewhere and wanted to share my solution, I don't really like the idea of the heater directly in my mash so I did a little MacGyver work, hope this helps, I can tell you it works great to keep...

Buck's sweetfeed recipe
I have been making this recipe for a long time, for a 5 gallon batch I use 4 inches of sweet feed in the bottom of a five gallon bucket, I dump that into a 5 gallon stainless steel pot, I add 2.5 gallons of the 5 gallons of water, boil the water to 150°f keep it there, stir it frequently so it doesn...

Thank you for your replies, I don't take criticism very well I suppose.
