Has anyone dealt with clawhammer supply from Colorado or Moonshine Stills Company from Ga. I own a small reflux still, homemade, looking for pot Been running a 10 gal from clawhammer for over 2 years and very happy. Folks at Clawhammer were very helpful when any questions arose. Hi Richard! if you are adding all your backset back in, you are likely low on Ph. 20% max of total new wash after gen 3 should reduce the chance of a stall. all that extra heat and work of the front end of the ferment don't do much either, have a look at the UJSSM recipe. I never heard of the grain being a pH buffer. I use the crushed shells myself. By the way, if you don't add some fresh feed to the next generation you are not getting the molasses flavor. You likely dissolved that with the first ferment. I always remove half of the spent sweet feed and replace it w...

Have been working with sweet feed for the couple of years. All pretty simple, use Red Star bakers yeast, equal amount of grain and sugar. Ran nothing but sour mash last season. I leave half the lees, add fresh grain and pitch yeast and watch it bubble. Always let it work slow. Tried something new to...

Just wanted to say I have enjoyed reading some of the information on the forum. Very informative. Been running a reflux for a few years. Mostly grain and working on sour mash.
