Too much alcohol?

I get the importance of labeling anything for consumption. But this looks like a few of our Canadian friends may have finally gotten a good deal on a commercial spirit. :) https://www.aol.com/article/news/2017/05/04/bombay-sapphire-gin-recalled-after-bottles-discovered-to-contain/22069061/?ncid=txtl...

Re: buildup of fuzzy white stuff on steam boiler&heating ele

Are you on a public water system? If so, you can get a report from the provider that will give you the test results from your water. If not, I would buy a kit from Hach on amazon and test your water. From there, you can treat it with an appropriate method to take care of the issues. The most obvious...

Hello, I am a commercial distiller in my 5th year in the industry. I recently crafted my own still, I consider it working from home. I'm sure that hidemyip.com or the like are in your wheelhouse. :) Some creative people here, although I'm not one of them. The fact you are humble enough to note thei...

@Evil Wizard, great thread! Lots of good info and discussion here. I hate to "jump on the direct injection bandwagon," but I have to. Honestly I can think of very few indirect heated set ups that actually work that I've seen on the 'net. The only ones of note are the coveted double walled...

Great thread, nothin' but jealousy here !!! The "pig bomb" hasn't reached Idaho yet so there's no feral hogs to shoot. I've done rabbits, chickens, goat and deer but would sure like to add hog to my repertoire. truth be known You do not want the filthy basturds to find out where you live ...

The next best thing besides a whole pig in your freezer is a 1/4 beef! 150 lbs of Holstein goodness  imag1693.jpg 90 lbs of ground beef, 60 lbs of porterhouse, ribeye, prime rib, and Chuck roast (and a few random cuts). If I'm counting right, we are at 5 committed. That was the self-imposed minimum. Dates Aug 10-Aug 14.

As of now:

1. BadMotivator
2. Big Bob
3. Otis T
4. Tom C
5. BoozePipe

Possibles:
1. OVZ
2. nerdybrewer

We have enough to make a go. I'll start communicating via PM with folks.

Re: First attempt at

As far as your original post goes, I'm wondering how much liquid you had after you put 6lbs of grain into 1 gallon of water. That ratio sounds more like a recipe for cement than it does a recipe for a ferment. You can find plenty of discussions regarding grain ratios to water. An easy starting point...

Is there a nameplate on this thing? Wonder if it has a pressure rating, etc. maybe a steam mash vessel, and have a large outlet on the manway toward the bottom into a tank for cooling, malt, fermentation.

Cool find.
