Agreed. He actually called me right after I posted this thread, and I tried to convince him again that his advertising is a bad idea...He maintained his misinformed line of thought that it's legal for personal consumption. He's in a different state than I am, but not one that has any sort of state l...

Trouble is, he honestly believes it's 100% legal as long as he's not selling it. And no matter what law I show him, I can't convince him he's wrong. And advertising won't end well. I guess I just throw up my hands and hope the best for him.

Frustrating.

I've got a buddy, and no matter what I do, I can't convince him that in the US, this hobby is a no-no. Yet he continues to post pictures of mash, and his still on Facebook. He believes that it's completely legal for personal consumption, in his state, it's not, of course, but I can't convince him ot...

I think that'll do...Now, let's see if I can get some age on any of it to really see how flavors develop and change.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I meant the ethanol, smell, basic clean distillate ( I may or may not have been sampling the wares when I composed that post). Definitely no fingernail polish remover. I am thinking that I'm just not used to the full rich flavors and smells that come with running rum of...

Alright...I have questions. I started out with a double batch...1.082 OG, and after all was said and done, it finished out around 1.023. I've got a 5 gallon pot, and did the stripping runs, pulling a foreshot cut ff of each before stripping the rest of the way. I ended up with a little over 3 gallon...

Very long time brewer, even did a little on the commercial side a time or two. Decided to get a little pot going, as it seemed like a natural progression, and I'd gotten somewhat bored with beer. Did a ton of reading and research, ran a 30L batch of corn, then a similarly sized batch of apple cider....
