Very interesting, thanks for the posting. After a few tastes I would be all mixed up though. LOL Might be a good science project for some young student.

Re: New Pot Column and Thumper Build
Looks great. Thanks for the pictures and the design. I am doing something similar. I have 2, 15.5 gal kegs and I am in the process of getting some 2" scrap copper pieces from a friend and will proceed as the pieces come in. he gets them on from plumbers on his job so I need to be patient cause ...

If the 3" column set up is the same as the 2" I bought prior to finding this site the liebig condenser is also too small. the columns are S/N'ed and your information is available to ATF.

Re: Sphere Shaped Turnip Still with 4" Column
I don't think there is a homemade way of spinning copper. You need a really large lathe and a wood form to press the copper to. I would be interested to find out though. I spent many hours 30 yrs ago watching a old WWII vet spin copper. I still have a small pot and 2 lamps he made for me. He had PTS...

Re: VA stopped my pain meds
I am not a fan of the VA. After more than 40 years and people bugging me to go to the VA I final broke down cause the meds I was taking were getting expensive. I just wanted to get the prescriptions ordered by my doctors filled since they were much cheaper. They said I needed to see VA doctors. Once...

24Quart SS Pot/lids at Costco
I just left our local Costco they had really nice 24qt SS pots with lids for $50.00. I had to hold myself back. Check them out if you want to build a small still.

Re: Best size lines for a Thumper
You guys will think I am nuts or at least that I do not know what I am doing (which is true) The more I read the more confused I get. I have read this sight till my eyes were bleeding. I am now thinking of running a 2" line to my second 15.5 gal keg to act as a thumper then out to a 2" col...

Best size lines for a Thumper
I want to build a thumper for my 15.5 gal keg pot still. I was wondering if I should continue the 2"riser line to the 7.5 gal thumper. I took the 1''ss fill tube out of the 7.5 keg and removed the inner spring, gasket and ball leaving the open ss 1'tube. I thought of welding a separate 3/4 or 1...

Re: sweetfeed whisky
I finally found a bag of all grain SF at a TS. This will be my first attempt at distilling. I have brewed some beer before but never took the next step. I joined a month or so a go and wanted to learn to distill grappa since I am in an area of NC surrounded by vineyards. After introducing myself and...

Hello from NC
Hi All I new to distilling but not to making beer. I am trying to learn about distilling and maybe start a farm distillery to distill Grappa since I am surrounded by vineyards. To date, I have the components for a basic pot still (beer keg, column, worm, 48 gal food grade barrel) to play with until ...
