Re: Who is running one of these? 220V AC SCR
Running it on a 4500 ULWD element. Got parts coming in from all over, just mocking stuff up in my head. 3 wire 240 off my old water heater circuit after I switched to a gas unit. Running off your old hot water heater circuit could be a problem.. hot water tank run on a 3000 watt element and off a 2...

Who is running one of these? 220V AC SCR
Ordered one up after reading a thread here and said to self "That looks like it will work for me" and now can't find the thread after searching like a crazy dude with a migraine. I had thought it was in the fleabay 10,0000 watt scr thread, but I appear to be blind or stupid. I need to book...

Re: 2" 304 Stainless tubing to stainless flange
There are SS ferules named Recessless Ferules. Also called Roll On Ferrules. They slip or the end of standard SS pipe sizes and then you put a slight flare on the end of the pipe and drive the ferule back down the flare. The seal takes place at the end with any standard gasket. No soldering and no ...

Re: 2" 304 Stainless tubing to stainless flange
I feel pretty silly I didn't see that dimension on type M before this. I was thinking DWV all the time. Now to source a small chunk to chop into rings.
If it doesn't seem solid, TIG is always an option. Thanks SS and FMH.

Re: 2" 304 Stainless tubing to stainless flange
I've got "many" feet of the 304 at a very attractive price, so looking for a solution for that. I know the welding option is certainly the best, but I've got enough stock to play with. Maybe swaging copper is an option to look at.

Re: 2" 304 Stainless tubing to stainless flange
I had thought originally that 2" copper couplers would work, but they are 2 1/8" ID. I could wrap some copper wire around the pipe for a snug fitting and solder/braze them on, but I thought a more elegant solution may present itself with some properly lubricated thinking.

Re: 2" 304 Stainless tubing to stainless flange
This is 304 stainless tubing with an od of 2", will the standard 2" flanges butt up to it or is the ID of the flange 2"? They are these fittings. The tubing is .065 http://www.ebay.com/itm/262454340052?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT" onclick="...

2" 304 Stainless tubing to stainless flange
I am getting ready to build my 2" boka and have some 2 inch sanitary flanges coming but am looking for options to attach the flanges. As I understand it, the flanges will have a 2 inch od, the same as the tubing. Other than having them tigged on, has anyone soldered them on with a strip of copp...

Re: Condenser Controlled Columns
So the consensus is a movable condenser off the top of the column, ala Boka, and a roughly same diameter takeoff (full size Tee) going to a liebig or shotgun arrangement is the easiest build? The angled (smaller?) takeoff with the takeoff midway up isn't done by anyone?

On the stripping runs, just go to 20%, correct? All that is left in the still goes towards the dunder pit?

Stainless spokes (think bicycle wheel) threaded into a skeletonized plate (think coffee french press plate) arranged like a shotgun condenser, with welded on nuts for the spokes on each end? Maybe a simple loop of wire as a retrieving pull?

Re: First build, 2 heads are better than one?
+1 On that separate pot still head. You don't need a tall one, 150-200 mm is plenty. If you built in stainless, maybe mine can be an inspiration to you? http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=56039#p7318039 Build with tri-clamps, it's just a lot easier to handle. Also, a modular bu...

Re: First build, 2 heads are better than one?
Looks pretty. I don't do welding, soldering doesn't scare me at all, though, and is a hell of a lot cheaper, equipment wise.
Maybe I will play with your slanted top idea, though. A brass blind soldered to the top would look nice, to me.

Like these guys have mentioned, I have also used labelizer for my beers for a few years. It is fun to put a custom label on a growler for parties or other special events and takes just a couple minutes to really make someones day.

First build, 2 heads are better than one?
I have an old 8 gal keg (salvaged). I found a guy selling a bunch of 2" 304 Stainless .065 in 6' lengths. Cheap. So I will probably grab 2 or three to play with. I think the route to go would be to have one pot head for stripping and whiskey/rum and one boka for neutrals. (Okay.. even with the ...

Been reading a lot, already made a mistake(ish).
Hey guys and gals! I've been brewing beer for a long time (extract, with AG buddies who are more anal than I am) and decided to get my toes wet into this world, as I am a fan of single malts, good rum, and a dandy neutral. I got an Airstill as a little starter unit just to play around with, but I kn...
