Wow, and I thought my build was tall at 72" in total with 49" of SPP and 2lbs of mesh as the packing. I need a little 2 step ladder to adjust my coil lol. That is a very nice build you have there, I'm curious to know how that amount of marbles as your packing performs. https://homedistille...

3" modular build on a 16 gallon boiler, 2 4500W heating elements one running on a PID one on a variable controller. Packing is 6 litres of SPP (49" packable height) and 3lbs of copper mesh.

I didnt use any plans.. i looked at some photos and fired up the torch... 1" main tube 1" cap for the bottom of the main tube 3" cap on the bottom with the center dremeled out to hold the 1"cap upright/straight 1" to 1.5" reducer for the top 2" cap for the distill...

Don't make the mistake I made and oversize it, the advice I got from the forums after posting my build was it was to big and that it would induce smearing (something I did not know about). As has been said there is no "perfect plan" and really the dimensions are key but there are some guid...

I'm curious, since you used unions and reducers where the beak meets the overflow, do you have trouble with it holding product in that bit? It looks to me like it would contribute to smearing.
