Hello Angoth,

great recipe. I will try. are you going for a spirit run after the 2nd maceration?

Thanks

Tom
Nope, no more spirit run. Second maceration is just to add a bit more flavour and the green/brown color.

Re: T500 Minimum Temperature

Oh well .. I guess you guys should rewrite the manual for the T500 because obviously the manufacturer is completely wrong, didn't knew shit about distilling and his distilling design.
I'm glad i'm making 94° neutral without doing cuts on my T500

Never said that high abv=neutral.
I said T500=high abv+neutral

Re: T500 Minimum Temperature

That abv of 94° is correct. T500 with column is set up for high abv neutral alcohol through cooling managment. The temperature which the original poster is talking about is the cooling water output. This has to be between 50° and 60° (higher temperature will lower the abv, lower temp than 50° create...

Re: T500 Minimum Temperature

T500 with column and water outflow temperature control is mostly used to make neutrals. Taste & smell are of no use here. It seems to me that you have never tried to make good cuts or to do it that way, If you had I don't think you would say that. That or your sense of taste and sme...

Re: T500 Minimum Temperature

Answering your question : Minimum temp of cooling output is 50° celcius. When you go below 50° you are doing full reflux and no alcohol makes it into your jars (considering you use the T500 column and not the copper helmet).

Re: developing a pastis

Today's pastis is nothing more than a neutral with anethol and (synthetic) flavours. There are few to none pastis out there that are made the old way (too work intensive). Don't know what your recipe is. Anyway, I have a recipe for the type of pastis made in Nord-Pas-de-Calais (northern france) by s...

Isn't that a bit overkill ? I mean, you just have to evaporate the alcohol, not send it into space :)

Re: Update on the white peaches

I'm doing peaches right now. The guy from from the brewstore (also makes his own wine) told me to use an universal wine yeast. I use de wineyeast from Oenoferm ( Characteristics ), which is sold under the trademark Erboferm in the US. Although I was planning to make a peach brandy and the peach mash...

Angoth the pictures look perfect, I am happy that you have succeeded is this the recipe you gave previously? Angoth, 28 years! That's pretty impressive. You must remember horrible things like Hill's and King of Spirits. Har! Those were days when you had to go HG because the COs were a real challenge. Lucid and Kubler were a real treat. I once tried King of Spirits .... bad stuff. If you would serve this t...

I sooooo love this topic about absinthe :) First of all a huge thank you to skow69 who convinced me to change my recipe for absinthe by bumping the amount of anise for a richer louche. So last tuesday started a new batch of absinthe, and while I was in a changing mood, I also took into account the a...

Re: Absinthe recipe

I have read, but never tested, that a prolonged maceration of the wormwood produced a wash that, after distillation, was so bitter it could not be sold. Out of experience i can say that this is not true. A few weeks ago I had to go abroad for my job and I forgot about the absinthe macerate I made t...

From the land of the trappists

Hi all, A new one from the land of the trappists (Belgium). Sorry for my english which is a bit rusty. Been busy distilling all kinds of liquor since almost 2 years now, learning things mostly by trial and error. The main reason I registered on this forum is because I want to share my own experience...
