My kids are all still pretty young but I plan on teaching my son everything I learn in this trade. I was raised not to be a snitch and he will be taught the same thing. I actually can't wait for him to get old enough to give me a hand. As of now he knows daddy makes beer.

Just mixing it and adding yeast is going to do nothing for you. You need to cook/mash everything at proper temp's. You might want to check out the tried&true section for a good recipe.

Re: Thumper addition
Looks like it's a bit short to reach the bottom of the thumper? You might have to sweat it off and add a longer tube to reach within 2" off the bottom of the thumper. Also, while you're at it I'd make the crossover pipe 2" as well and reduce it at the intake of the thumper. Good luck with...

I run a 15.5 gallon pot still and I'm in the making of adding a thumper. I resantly aquired a SS head for the thumper from Corene1 just need to add the 3/4" plumbing. I got a 2" by 12" column that I'm going to add a 90 degree elbow with a reducer down to 3/4". Gong to run the 3/4...

I have reran some of my mistakes and ended up with not much improvement. I would set them aside and use them for a sacrificial run for any mods or possibly a new still cleaning.
