Re: Older post relevance - is it all still good info?

As to what I like to drink....as long as its wet, tastes good, and has a healthy kick, I'm all in...lol. I don't discriminate when it comes to giving different types of spirits the chance to "shine". I crack me up...lol. After a bunch of reading, I think where I'd like to start is building...

Older post relevance - is it all still good info?

I'm reading till my eyes bleed as recommended by most folks, But As I try to wind my way through some of the design threads I've notices that some of the info is quite old. Is there a cut off point in age or relevance? I know there's a lot of tried and true designs, but I don't want to build somethi...

Re: About to build my first pot

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. This for me is like a trip to the candy store when I was a kid. I look around and see all this mouth watering copper candy, and I hear my wife's voice whispering" you can have ONE...."how to choose, how to choose....

About to build my first pot

Hi Guys, After lots of research I think I'm about ready to build something. Gonna start with a more simple pot still so I can learn the basics and still have something to use while building a column. The jury is still out on type of boiler - ss pot versus ss half keg inverted. What I was thinking of ...

Re: Question on the process itself

Sorry NZ, wasn't my intention to cause any kind of ruckus or ask for a spoon feeding. I've got a neighbor that has 5-5 liter boxes of blush sitting in his garage that he says I can just have. It was left over from a party that never happened, and I've done him a few favors. Was just looking for a cr...

Question on the process itself

Hi guys! I'm thoroughly enjoying all the info available here. In the course of my reading, I've come across several references to "speed runs" where instead of taking the time to ferment a mash or wash, you simply dump a cheap bag in a box of wine in a pot and let it go. Is this safe, and ...

Re: Still design question

Thank you Otis, Structural safety over time is important to me as well. Glad to hear its not an issue of something nasty leaching into the steam/reflux though.

Still design question

I've been reading as much as I can on the parent site, and had a question about one of the examples listed. In Mike Pemberton's Vapour Management Still, the description shows using a 1000 mm aluminum tube with ss scrubbers. Was I wrong in assuming that the only acceptable construction materials were...

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest

Hello All, I'm a retired military vet with way too much time on my hands. I am a transplanted deep south swamp rat (hence the user name), but now live in a colder climate as I no longer have much love for humidity, hurricanes, sink holes, snakes, and skeeters large enough to carry off your young in ...
