Re: Well well well what do we have here?
Ok, so it's all agreed that it's a mickey mouse piece of crap. Can someone point me to some good plans for a 240v controller using these parts?

Re: Well well well what do we have here?
I agree the workmanship/safety is "suspect" to use a nice word. I am hoping to rebuild it but really need a plan so was hoping someone would recognize it and point me in the right direction.

Well well well what do we have here?
I just bought a brew pot and this controller was thrown in. The guy I bought it from told me "The controller was based off of the ardbir open source project here: https://github.com/wizbrewery/wiz-Open-ArdBir/tree/master/Open-ArdBir" does anyone know anything about it? I defiantly want to ...

The nice thing with an immersion heater is you can insulate the pot and save on heating costs and heating time.

Re: Running a Boka
Yes I have a 2-inch Boka. I 2000-watt boil coil element I have been running full out all the time will play with that. I usually run about 7 gallons of low wines (40 %) so it takes all day to run a batch. I was running at a broken stream, faster than a drip but not a steady stream. Looks like I need...

Running a Boka
I usually run a pot still for whisky so I don't use my Boka very often. I fill my boiler with low wines from stripping runs and I bring it up to temp with the needle valve open and once I collect about 250ml of the foreshots ( I know it's a bit much but that's me.) I close it and let it equalize for...

Same here, I was always worried that I had screwed up somehow as it didn't finish as quickly as it was supposed to. But I think the longer the better for the finished product.

It wasn't I think what you see is the table top through it. Nothing off the still was cloudy except the last three that went into the heads and tails for the next run.

Re: Louching????
Has this happened with more than one bag of malt? It could be something as simple is just a particular bag of malt. I have never done an all barley malt whiskey so mostly throwing out ideas. What was the abv of your low wines? The fact you are pulling 80% in hearts is still puzzling me. I run a sim...

Re: Louching????
If there is a maximum useful height, I wouldn't know what that is. The more worried about misting you are, the higher you should go, I suppose. The Laphroag stills are quite tall. How much height do you have in the shed? How long a length do you have in your copper collection? What has your local s...

I have been making a single malt with peated malt and saving my stripping runs, yesterday I did my spirit run and grabbed 500ml of 80 proof from the middle of the heart to make white dog. when I added 500ml to bring it down to drinking strength it went cloudy. I have been having issues lately with o...

Slime How to prevent
Ok, So I have been doing this for 5 or 6 years. About a month ago I made 2 batches of UJSSM ran one last week and was going to do the other today but when I opened it it was slime. I smelled ok but did not look ok. I dumped it and am sterilizing the bucket as I always do with brewing sanitizer. What...

So how does one go about preventing this? I distill in the basement (electric) and really don't want my house filled with it. I do use an exhaust fan is that enough? and age in my detached garage.

Thanks, SW and TwoSheds Made the changes to my cart and added 2 switches one to turn the controller on and one to turn the element on that sounds like a great idea.

Re: Ideal speed for Corona mill?
Because of the way they work I did not mount a permanent motor on mine it would pull to one side from the tension on the belt and the gap at the plates would be larger on one side and smaller on the other. I just use a variable speed drill with a 5/16 (?) bolt in the end with the head cut off.

So this is my setup now https://i.ibb.co/CH5rCv1/IMG-2739.jpg Just a fan control and an analog volt meter. I'm thinking I might just build a better one with digital.
