Thanks Gents!
I'll do my best to stop in to see what's new. Lend a helping hand when possible.
Looks like I should have some time to get a run in next month. Ordered grain and got the shop organized. Need to clean my still a little and sanitize everything.

Treat her with care and she won't let you down.

Have fun!

Just wanted to say hello.

Haven’t been on the site for some time with life is taking me in a million directions. No time for fun with the still. Spend the short amount of free time I have chasing bourbon and rye. Hope you guys are all doing okay and I wish you all the best! I will try to stop in more often. Cheers all! Irish

Re: Cut apples in gin basket

I do something like this, and it has made a noticeable difference in my blueberry and peach brandy. I don’t have a gin basket set up yet. I place a large stainless mesh container in the still, half in low wines and the other half sticking out in the vapor path. I have tried fresh fruit, dehydrated, ...

Seriously? do some of you fellas take it that far ?......a vanilla bean is a vanilla bean in my part of the world, glad I don't live in a country or place that needs to be so precise. LMFAO!!!! I have tried both, could not notice a difference in the spirit. The beans do look different to a degree. ...

Re: email from Brewhaus

This hasn’t been discussed since 2013 for a reason, no one gives a shit anymore. LOL Follow the rules of don’t tell / don’t sell and your good to go. Very few people in the states end up getting caught. Even the back woods hill jacks that are selling for a profit rarely get caught. Google it and you...

Re: Wedding Party Bottles

It is American quarter sawn white oak. I had the same question my self, which is why I started communicating with the owner. They source from a cooper in Kentucky that sells off less desirable staves for larger barrels. A good amount of the oak coming out of southern Indiana. Sorry that had to happe...

Re: Wedding Party Bottles

I have barrels from Barrelsonline.com. Never had an issue and I have recommended to several local stillers, as well as some on the forum. I have never heard about issues with them.
I have had a few conversations with the owner and have enjoyed talking with him.

Re: Aged whiskey on 4 way OAK

That looks like a lot of oak,but if it tastes good go with it. We all have different taste. I would play with less oak and more time on oak to see if you get better results. Lately I've been playing with soaking oak in Sherry and some in Port. Once I pull from my badmo barrels, I toss some of the sh...

Re: 1.5 distillation?

Wpkluck, Taking the thumper out of the equation. I was told in the past that a 1.5 distillation is when you strip, then dilute (proof down) with the same wash and do a spirit run. I am no expert and surely not the authority here. I run a number of my brandy this way because I get more of the flavor ...

Re: 1.5 distillation?

Wpkluck If you want to get a real answer, why are you asking on a hobbyist forum? Seems silly to me. This type of question should be sent to the pros. Several distilleries are very willing to respond to questions of this nature. You can go back and forth with all the members here, but I doubt you wi...

The original mix of ceramic and copper saddles is more than up to the job......most folk here have never seen a t500 in the flesh let alone run one. I looked at a T500 in a brew shop about two years ago when I was on vacation. If it was closer to home, I may have purchased it. Never ran one, just s...
