My cap is not soldered and I dont use flour pasteon it. It dosent leak any vapor at all. I slide it on after I put the thermometer on. The condenser will almost pull the vapor to it.

how can you tell if its lead solder or not?
For average people we have no way to tell.
My guess is the same, durring the time frame (using lead was common place) it was most likely made with lead.
