Re: FLUTE TALK
Sorry to bring up an old thread. I see some LM automated still like the iStill or the Genio Still. Do you guys think we could do the same with a CM (flute) still ? Regulating the coolant flow to the dephlegmator using the vapor temperature above it ? Goal is get a good ''automated'' NGS spirit run. ...

Re: Building an Alembic with Optional Offset Column Hybrid
Nice work, looks like a pro alembic! Was wondering, the return pipe at the bottom of your column, does it need to go all the way down to the kettle in order to prevent vapor coming out of it directly into the column? Yes. So it goes to the very bottom of the kettle? How does the liquid returning th...

Re: FLUTE TALK
Wow! Thanks to all for the replies. If I decide to run 2 plates instead of 4 for rum or whiskey... Should I remove plate from the bottom 2 "tee" or the top 2 "tee" ? option 1 option 2 ( deph) (deph) ( plate ) (empty) ( plate ) (empty) ( empty) ( plate ) (empty) ( plate ) (boiler)...

Re: FLUTE TALK
OK, after going through all the pages of the mythic FLUTE TALK thread. I did 2 runs with my 4 inches 4 plates flute. I start by filling my RC and PC and then turn on the heat full blast @5500W. When I start to see liquid on first plate I open the flow to the RC all the way and reduce power to 2475W....

Re: Sight glass advice
Did you hand tighten it or you used a spanner wrench?Hoosier Shine9 wrote:When I put the Sight Glasses from StillDragon on mine I used a end cap & tri-clamp, filled it with water and tightened till no leaks.
Then I watched it real close when I ran it the first time and tightened as needed.

Sight glass advice
Hey guys, I did use the search function but unfortunately, I found nothing. I just got my new flute sections. They all have a 4" sight glass as shown in the picture. https://sand.milehidistilling.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Stainless-Flute-section-3-Inch-window-500x500.jpg How tight should I...

Re: Multiple generations in AG sour mash
Bringing up an old thread. From what I understand if I want to go down the AG route for my sour mash, I need to do a first AG mash, distill it. Then, I use backset from my first run (mash #1) for my mash #2 in addition to the mash water?
I never re-use some of the old corn like in UJSSM ?

I'm from the East Coast. Currently aging a single malt made with our own barley. I am also working toward my first gin.Expat wrote:
Roughly what part of Canada are you from? What do you like to make/drink?
Edit: definitely guessing west coast given the keg you're using. Yes?

Hello from Canada.
Hi all, I've been lurking this forum for a while and decided to join in. Currently running a "Keg still" setup. https://imgur.com/7NdSQwI 24" column x 2" 24" shotgun with 7 x 1/2" OD pipes inside. Currently thinking about making a dephlegmator to fit above my column and...
