Ropey / slimy is a transient phase in funky / lacto beers, it goes away when it’s ready.

I have a 50 litre copper alembic & have similar problem. My fix , I start with hot water 35c in condenser and only introduce cold from the bottom when the top is 65 to 70c .product is around 25c at spout.when it “huffs” it causes the bottom of the boiler to pulse up & down and it settles int...

As long as they hold liquid they're good as a conditioning vessel, can always add some oak chunks of your choice to up the oak influence

due to their construction butterfly valves are easier to clean & therefore considered more sanitary for brewing, not such an issue if distilling or if you pull your ball valves apart & clean properly after each use I personally prefer them in my brewery but won't front the extra $'s for the ...
