UJSSM tells you to use 25% backset. So it would should be fine.
But SS is right, I would watch if PH goes to low.
But Jesse's recipe does not mention that, so I am not sure how low it can go.

Re: Great way to alert me product coming out of condenser.
Thank you all for the comments. They have made me think of other things I should also be setting up fail-safes for. It isn't going to be any help if the cooling water isn't running for some reason that you never thought could happen. My wife came home and parked the truck on the Liebig outlet hose. ...

If this is in violation of any Board rules, Please pull this and I will have no issue. But I personally believe that none of you that have been distilling for a long time sit there and stare at your still the entire time it is on. Great way to alert me product coming out of condenser.
I found this great way to notify me product is coming out of my condenser.
I put this in a 16oz canning jar and it goes off when product starts to come out of my condenser, it sounds an alarm.

Re: pH questions...Wineos Sugar wash
Have you guys tried Oyster Shells to control PH? I have used a small bit tied in a clean cloth hung in the wash with a string. It has kept my washes running well to .990 SG What was the volume of the wash done using shells.. Mars I do either 35gal or 55gal washes and I put in about a half of cup of...

SS thank you., That answered exactly what I was looking for.
I already have 5 gals of UJSSM on oak already.
Also 4 gal of Pugirum on oak.
Wife found out she liked corn more than sugar vodka, so getting some ready to age for 2 months. It seams to taste better to her aged some.

Re: Vodka runs
Well if it's a stripping type run I'll use my pot still. If it is a spirit run I'll use my reflux still. I guess I'm wondering if I should do multiple stripping runs and then a spirit run. Or should I do one stripping run and multiple spirit runs. Right now I have 100gals UJSSM, waiting for it's run...

Re: Yield
Ok by what my friends that work at the local distillery say. When you see on a bottle 7x distilled or 4x distilled, whether it comes from a pot still, pot still with thumper or a column still. (Unless the distillery is BS its customers.) It means how many times it has gone through the still, even if...

Fruit wine under airlock?
I have 5 gal apple wine that is basically left over apple parts (Skin, apple pieces, and core) from making apple butter.
My questions are:
how long can the wine sit in the primary fermenter under airlock, before racking off?
Can something happen if left to long?

Re: Vinegar run specifics
I do a vinegar and sacrificial run anytime I am adding new parts to my still that are in the path that my alcohol will take.
Whether I bought or made the part.
Did not do vinegar or sacrificial run when I added new cooling lines to my condenser, they are not in the alcohol path.
